Each one states that 'his' justification for the attack was cartoons and Swedish army in Afghanistan.

Yes, he has aspirations of a global Islamic state and has from what i see been hanging out with like minded people however i still maintain that nobody attacks people just because they don't like their way of life (apart from Americans who want to spread democracy but thats okay that is).

Prove me wrong Jim, i'm more than willing to listen to any solid evidence.

OK, there are about 500 Swedish military personnel in Afghanistan. They are part of the "Nordic Battle Group". Sticking to the Nordic theme, the Minnesota Vikings NFL football team have about 500 employees as well.
So tell me, was the attacker from Afghanistan?? No? Then what was he attacking for? Because that country and his has a similar religion? Then he is attacking for religion, not because of what nation it was. You yourself admitted one reason was because of a cartoon of a prophet from Sweden. One is to assume this guy would have attacked for that without the 500 soldiers anyway. I say again, this is a lifestyle attack!!!
He obviously has been led to believe kufar are killing muslims so he should do the same to them to. However, THIS is the motivator, THIS is what has led him to do such a lousy thing not 'oh you go clubbing, thats bad so you must die!' type attack at all. Not a lifestyle attack at all and never has been.
Guys, IMO you are both right, this violence ebbs and flows and what was once a motivator has probably morphed into something else.
This cretin originated in Luton ffs and ends up flying over to Sweden to blow his stupid arse off so do you think he's bright enough to rationalise what he's doing? even then he will probably be acting on the orders of someone else. It could be the fact Sweden is a soft target, 'spreading the word', Swedish troops in Afghanistan, umbrage taken over a cartoon or an irrational hatred for Volvos.

Complete tosh; no hatred of Volvo's could be called irrational.

Now from a brief read of the stories this man does not seem academically thick. He is or was at university studying for something or another. How can or does someone who is obviously not stupid become so effed up / brainwashed that he considers blowing himself up and taking innocents with him. It is made very clear in the Quran that suicide and killing innocents is forbiden and is basically an unforgiveable sin.

So why would whoever 'turned' him be able to convince him otherwise? The only justification i could possibly see from his side is that if he has lost family in Iraq due to the war and decides to take it out on coalition army but why? ffs why Sweden?

His first mistake was finding a religion.
Does the rest of the world look at events like this and always wonder why there is a UK connection ? It wouldn't surprise me if the Americans haven't already asked for overfly rights for Reaper drones in parts of the UK hehe

He did not 'find' religion.
You know what, you are probably partly correct. He was probably
born into it and had it forced onto him from day one, and probably just because of the country he was born in and that his parents believe in the same because of where they were born, and so on and so....
At some point he found an all consuming belief in his religion though that's made him believe he has to do these things.
The world may have one less inept sucicide bombing idiot, but his kids have lost a farther because of his over belief in religion. Lets hope they see the mistake and don't go the other way.

The BBC's Nikki Jenkins said when Abdaly was worshipping at the Luton Islamic Centre Mosque in 2007, he was exposed by some other members for trying to present a "distorted view" of Islam.

When he was confronted by the other members he stormed out and was not seen again at the mosque, our correspondent added.

Looks like the signs were there a while back, before he went underground.

And that, to me, is the interesting question. Is it because our society has become so fked-up and PC that we are incapable of doing anything about the evils of Islam, and hence we have become a large fermenting-pot of scum from all over the world?

Please tell me it isn't so.

And confronting his extremism probably helped drive him underground, good to hear it happened though.
