Only caught a glimpse, but WTF?

A third of their budget is spent on "the needy, vulnerable and those unable to help themselves, so we are fully against these cuts"

Really? Bournemouth Council has just been found out for hoarding over £1m , so how much have they got stashed away. let alone the ridiculously large salaries mad

I thought he said 80% is spent on childrens services, the elderly and the disabled. I wonder how much their art collection is worth?

Someone from leicster was on earlier complaining that the cuts would mean stopping services like the benefit bus.

Yes thats right a bus that travels around telling people what benefits they can claim.

Hmmm

And the other two thirds are spent on traffic calming and speed cameras.

You don't even want to consider what debt your local council has if it is Lib Dem.

Mine is £119 million

Spending on adult social care is usually a priority so its a worry if it gets cut.

Old people are a 'ticking time bomb'. I heard the other day that there are now more over 60s than under 16s in the UK. Obviously that will get worse over time - these oldies are all going to be a massive drain on public funds - moreso in areas with a lot of oldies.

if you're under about 35 then your parents (generation) screwed you over, stole your money and your future.

What's incorrect about that statement?

The baby boomers will enjoy lavish state care from cradle to grave. The young will work longer, pay more tax and get less services.

Just hope that the young are distracted by jenny agutter and don't get any ideas from Logan's Run.

For one it's hyperbole at its finest, unqualified at best and disingenuous at worst.

There are always stark differences from generation to generation and whilst we as a generation (as I am almost in that bracket) have a tougher ride from a fiscal perspective possibly, we have other benefits that the previous generation did not it's swings and round-a-bouts.

Its gets worse, quoted from that link... so if you're too lazy to get to the bus they'll even pop round and see you!!

Halton Borough Council website said:
The service uses a mobile office as a focal point for the service, however there is a team of visiting officers who can visit people in their home and assist claimants who wish to make a claim for Housing Benefit and Council Tax Benefit. In addition to the Housing Benefit and Council Tax benefit service, officers can carry out benefit checks to see if other state benefits may be payable.
