As Time magazine have announced theirs (the Facebook guy), I'm wondering who do the PH masses consider to be The Person Of The Year? & while we're about it the biggest plonker and the best poster on the PH boards.

Person
Of course all of our service boys & girls win this award hands down but we have to pick one person.

So it would have to be Glenn Beck. for me. His descent into tin-foil hat wearing, paranoid, madness on Fox has been the funniest thing on TV all year. Every day he is turning more and more into the Peter Finch character in Network. This week, in an Oprah style giveaway, he was handing out survivalist packs to his studio audience. However, the slightly worrying thing is that on some matters (like the prices of gold, minerals and food going up, riots throughout Europe) he has actually been proved right. Admittedly they weren't too hard to guess & his "We have to get back to God, people" speeches are laughable but the effect that both him and Sarah Palin are going to have in the future direction of the United States and therefore the rest of the world cannot be underestimated. Neither of them will be the next Republican candidate for President but I tell you one thing, they will have a damn big say on who actually will be. And that might not be funny at all. (Remember Palin believes that humans as a species, are 'fallen' & need to repent to get back into God's good grace. She scares the living crap out of me.)

Plonker
Up until last week it was Gordon Brown but now the hands down winner has to be Charlie Gilmour. To even be on a demo protesting about university fees when your Dads worth more the GDP of some African countries is beyond stupid. To then vandalise the most scared memorial to this country's war dead, whilst obviously coming prepared to do it, is obscene beyond belief.
(Not naming dropping at all but I have a customer who moves in rock star circles. He went to ones daughters wedding where they blew nearly as much as a student loan in fireworks. Not saying we all wouldn't do the same thing but the very definition of "money to burn")

Poster
Honourable mentions;

rover 623gsi: for his relentless, single minded pursuit of the McCanns
hedders: for his fantastic 9/11 theories and his very stout defence of them.
KatieK: a late entry this one. For her wonderfully naive replies on the students rioting thread. Talk about wandering into the wrong forum.

Runner up;
Cock Womble 7: Just because he is always funny & has the best user name.

but the winner is....
EMSMAN!!: same as last year I guess but he wins it this year for making it through without anymore injuries and with seemingly a happy ending. An inspiration to us all in the dark days ahead.

My own humble opinions, what are yours?

Surely Turbobloke should get an honourable mention for his unrelenting exposure of the true believers.

Needs medication imho. Scary obsesive type. Should take his (very resaoned, thought out, reasearched etc) arguements somewhere else, no point in preaching to believers. Almost wasting his talents and time.

Certainly not wasted time, he provides us with a great resource of information.

Another vote for Turbobloke smile Sadly his information is wasted on the religous followers, but you have to admire his efforts and the wealth of information he has brought forth.

ETA I just had a quick read of some of the posts in that thread and am shocked you put me in the same category. I was not so naive and had better grounding with my replies. (and I also said fk off, rather than shut up). Also, I can drive biggrin

Without a doubt.

For the shear eloquence of his posts, steadfastness and courage and love expressed for his wife.
