Accident my arse. I bet the Superintendant took one look at this and thought "I'd much rather a conviction for the drugs than send an old bloke down for shooting at scum" and decided to believe the story about the fox.

spot on.

guy quite rightly blows the bo****ks off some thieving pikeys and invents some cock and bull story afterwards. For once, the police show common sense and "believe" him.

What they saw was a bloke in a wheelchair and some pikeys who were trying to rob from him (his "medical ciggies" perhaps)... And thought there is no way we are going to prosecute him...
