They showed the Israel bits on the news here yesterday, and Clarkson looked truely amazed at seeing the sea of Galilee, which was nice. He should come back in 5 years when it's completely dried up.
Why would it dry up?

<waits with bated breath>
I was wondering the same thing, seems its being drunk quicker than its filling up smile

Phew! I thought that article was going to blame it on Global Warming/Climate Change/Global Climate Chaos.

I was thinking Quality Of Service policies on IT Networks smile

Very much agree that the next big (bigger?) war in that area will be over basic things like water . . . . . . IMHO Israel will plan ahead and build a capable infrastructure that will keep its citizens supplied, the rest of the region won’t and will then blame Israel for "depriving it of water, like the nasty oppressor it is"

Apparently the Top Gear Xmas Show is drawing complaints (front page of one of the tabloids tomorrow apparently) from Muslims because Clarkson wore a Burka. rolleyes
So they've done exactly what the producers of Top Gear wanted - more coverage. It makes you wonder if those with a financial interest in TG are the main complainers.

Little Britain's new spin off is less controversial yet it too has received complaints.

I was listening to a chat from an author during the Brighton Festival. She was asked if there was one thing that would ensure high sales. The woman thought a bit and then said: Get the book banned somewhere. Anywhare will do, but somewhere in the news is best. We are all jealous when that happens to another author. We all hate them for it. The publishers will immediately throw a contract at you with the money left blank for you to fill in.

Allowances have to be made for her bitterness but there does appear to be an essentail truth there.

^^^ this, kerching.

Think about it, of those of the Muslim persuasion who find wearing a Burka a necessity, nay a religious requirement...how many would be in Top Gears demographic? and of those how many would promptly fire up Twitter to voice their concerns?

Perhaps, but there is a limit to allowing your ratings to rely more on controversiality, and less on substance and material. Ask Frankie Boyle..

It's 3 blokes doing an Entertainment show loosely connected to motoring. Putting a Burka on was just them having a bit of a laugh. As simple as that.

So far this is something of a non story. Where are all the complaints to which the OP refers.
The best the Mail could come up with was:

Mail Online said:
Islamic activist Anjem Choudary, said: 'The burka is a symbol of our religion and people should not make jokes about it in any way.

I think Islamic activism is Anjem's part-tome role. His main employment is in ratings for Top Gear. Or so I'm told.

Anybody who thinks the producers didn't get permission for everything the presenters did, is quite frankly a 'tard.
Same goes with the crowd that wanted autographs and top gear being on in the background while they smoked the pipes, it is all set up/scripted/staged.

I would have expected more complaints to be about the pipe smoking TBH

Anyone that insecure about their religion obviously realises they are defending a load of bullocks, as all religions are.

Muslims are quite ignorant of their own history tbh.

AFAIK the burkah was a tribal dress (along with that white get-up the sheikhs wear) from the bedouin (spelling?) tribes that was designed to keep their women safe from bandits when traversing the desert. if you watch lawrence of arabia Omar Sharif wears a black headscarf that was particular to his tribe, anyways the koran mentiones that womeh should cover themselves not to be provocative, but they could just as easily do that wearing a mickey mouse otufit and comply with the koran - the burkah was adopted from tribal dress and has no religous significance whatsoever.

also funny they have no problem with male suicide bombers/terror suspects wearing them to evade capture do they?

bunch of ill-educated extremists. if it was so offensive why didn't the syrian police arrest them?

Anyone who's into religious extremism regards TV watching as a sin (Haram). How did they find out about this in the first place? Unless of course they are secretly watching Top Gear like a Catholic priest secretly flicking through a porn mag and finding it excitingly repulsive?

Indeed. I very much suspect that someone at the tabloid who is paid to scrawl lies and deciet to meet the paper's aganda was watching it and realised that this was his Christmas paid for just as soon as he'd written about how the whole of murderous and cruel Islam were up in arms and coming to kill all our children.

People really must stop reading these tabloids. biggrin
