Theoretically, im against it, as I believe gay rights begin and end with that gay individual, once you bring a child into the equation then his/her rights also become affected. I certainly wouldnt have wanted to be bought up by two same sex partners. But then i wouldnt want to be bought up by abusive hetero couple either, so i guess in the real world its all about any particular.

A guess i have no strong view either way, although i do think heterosexual couples should be given first refusal ahead of gay ones if only for natural (non religious) reasons. As an atheist i dont like how the gay lobby assumes that if youre against homosexuals adopting you must be some sort of religious crank. Simple fact is two men or two women in isolation cannot concieve naturally.

I love the use of the term 'normal'

it's such a comfort blanket to those that feel the need, through their own insecurities, to distance themselves from those who don't fit into their little boxes
Ah sorry, I'm guilty of using the N word; must be a bit out of touch. Always thought children should be the result of a loving relationship between a man and a woman; not a couple of old queens using a turkey baster rolleyes
You & me both, but we're not allowed to speak the truth these days as upsets the freaks.
Dick rolleyes

Who the fk are you to call anyone a freak?

There are weirdo's in all aspects of life, their sexual orientation has nothing to do with it

In the closet much?

ETA: In fact fk it, a challenge to you big man, go to the next DD's, I'll bring along a couple of gay mates and we can watch you tell them they are freaks

I've got a score here that says you won't say a word, one of em's called Big Paul and it's cos he's a doorman not cos he's got a big knob

For me the "loving relationship" bit is far more important than the "man and woman" bit.

I find it rather interesting that one of the first things people come up with when expressing a firm or possible opinion against gay parenting is that "the child might be bullied", rather than "the child will not have a mum/dad".
My point is that on one hand a gay couple (my friends in this instance) would be fantastic parents but on the other hand is it fair to put kids through the potential emotional torment?

I'm not saying that I'm for or against it as I'm really not sure.

Maybe it's a chicken and egg situation, it won't become 'acceptable' (to the majority) until there are a few kids in schools with same sex parents, there needs to be 'pioneers' and this is where it becomes difficult.

It all comes down to whether they are good parents or not. It doesn't matter about sex\sexual orientation\colour\religion or whether they are obsessed with star trek.

There will inevitably be some bullying however when the kid gets to school, as kids will always pick on someone who stands out.
Elton John's kids are likely to grow up with multi millionaire lifestyles and celebrity friends, I doubt anyone's going to bully them for having gay dads. Their school friends are more likely to be trying to befriend them so they can meet the Saturdays when they they perform at their birthday party than call their dads queer.

Hell if Elton John wanted to adopt ME I would probably go for it....

I am not gay for the record but have had and do have gay friends, they have ranged from raging queens to guys you wouldnt know they were gay even if they told you

I have calmed a bit smile

Elton John has pots of money, has a good eye for a car collection and is well connected with plenty of fashion/hollywood attractive totty.

I would happily be adopted by a woofter with such future lifestyle potential rather than a pair of bible bashing Renault Scenic drivers who work for the local council and live in a 1930's semi in the midlands.

By and large, I have no problem with the concept, as long as both parents are Frank and Earnest.

what if, for example, a father died and a child was raised by his mother and his grandmother?

or perhaps his mother and another mother in the exact same situation?

or a mother died and it was a father and grandfather?

or is it only immoral and disgusting when the parents are having disgusting dirty sex at night?

so what about all the straight blokes who take their wives up the wrong'un?

it's a minefield!

as for the 'they'll be bullied' argument - no doubt you are against gingers or welsh people, or fatties or spackers or darkies having kids too, they'll get bullied too

there are good parents and there are bad parents - all good parents are different, all bad parents are different

Oh threats of violence, how adult & measured your replies are. Well done for proving you know your on shakey ground trying to defend your ideas.

I can't reply further as it seems the same level of personal insults rather than discussion in return gets deleted. So well done you win by default as the Stasi on here don't allow both sides of this discussion.

I don't have a problem with gays adopting kids who need a home. I have a big problem with super-rich celebs placing a surrogacy order for the latest fashion accessory with a big cheque whilst many already born babies need homes badly. Still, there'll be plenty of staff to look after the kid in a week or two when the shine has worn off. I guess I must be a homophobe too then.

Im not into "gay friends" (even if they are called Big Willie or whatever) purely because i dont want to inadvertantly end up in their wk bank and would not fancy going to a club and them pulling a guy or indeed talking to me about their sexual exploits. The thought of it kind of freaks me out a bit.

I suppose you don`t mind if it`s your image they pleasure themselves over, but then i suppose you will never know for sure if they do or not unless they tell you they do.

Oh and just in case you were wondering Keizer Soze (Kevin Spacey) is gay.

rofl My take from that post is that rb5230 has just described how he thinks of his female friends and assumes that everyone else does the same. hehe

In your opinion, I find the destruction of society's morals through law just as abhorrent. I also don't believe it's what the majority want, just that most people with normal views stay quiet because the minority who disagree such as you are so vocal about it.
