So Jaws was wrong? (shark has to keep swimming otherwise it drowns).
I've seen plenty of reef sharks lying on the bottom.
As long as there's a current, plenty of fish will be able to extract oxygen from the water.

http://www.worldofsharks.net/breathing.htm

"For some Sharks, Swimming and breathing are inseparable. Of course like any other animal or living being, breathing is a must, but some sharks like Oceanic Whitetip or the Gray Reef Shark must keep swimming or sink and drown tot he bottom. They adopt a system known as 'obligate ram ventilation' in which oxygen-rich seawater passes freely through the open mouth and pharynx, over the gills and out through the gill slits as they swim forwards.

This is not true for all the species however. Many species such as Whitetip reef shark, nurse shark, and bottom dwellers like angel shark and wobbegongs are able to rest at sea floor and extract the oxygen from the water through their gills. Whitetip reef sharks open their mouths, expand the walls of the pharynx, and cause the water to rush in. By closing the mouth and raising the floor, the water is propelled over the gills and out through the gill slits."

Which is interesting but a bit academic. Finning is still cruel, wasteful and stupid.

I don't belive that story for a minute.

He would of been traveling with minders and a film crew, after spending a few weeks with him do you really think they would of let that happen.

Do you think with Ramsay covered in petrol not one of them would of light him.

Another "Celebrity goes to meet dangerous gangsters and put the world to rights" programme then. I'm suprised none of them have had their heads blown off yet.

Can sharks experience an emotion of terror?

Regardless, finning is just a stty thing to do, I'm no PETA member, not by a long shot, but slicing off a fin and returning the live animal to the sea is a dick move extraordinaire

Sharks are phenomenally adapted creatures, evolutionarily close to perfect, yet they kill less people each year than coconuts or lightning, and people have a massive hang up on being attacked

As for torching Gordon Ramsay though, I'm pretty ambivalous...

Is that at the hands of the militant wing of the National Viewers & listeners Association? Mary Whitehouse would be proud.
