Couldn't find this elsewhere and it has no PH'esque comments on it so here goes:

Debtris

Its a bit 'green' with its implications but interesting nonetheless for people who like things to be explained using pictures. teacher

Why did the UK's richest man mean we had to borrow £22bn?

Because he's rich and therefore its all his fault. Him and the other rich people of course.

(Rich = more than a certain figure determined by a panel of experts consisting of socialists, students, the Daily Mail and a concerned mother of six).

They are just using it to show how our debt relates in size to other things in the world, such as the amount Mittal has, Tesco profits, African debt and other things.

The "true cost" of the Iraq war was a staggering figure. Found that video fairly interesting in terms of the "contrasts" however not terribly informative overall.

Perhaps you should add 90% of the British Public to your panel of experts. I do like your concession to Mothers, but why only six kids.
My definition of rich is those persons who enjoy charity giving in terms of cash or kind.

The link I posted above is a 20 minute "lecture" by the designer, you might enjoy it if you like his style and use of data.

Yet it is the political 'classes' that send us to war each time...

Ah. Seems a bit of an odd way of presenting things. I thought there would be an actual Tetris-style conclusion so that when things filled up the screen it's over. Hrm.

Am I right in thinking, that the video simply shows a number of blocks representing sums of money that have no real relationship to each other, and draws no conclusions whats so ever, and is pretty much a "look at thes numbers" thing?

Remember the disagreement between Tarzan and Thatcher in the 1980's. Also the constant 'revelations' of Arms deals between U.K. and erm' other Countries. Its a mad bad world.

Pretty much, but I think there was a very poor demonstration about third world debt being quite small in there at the end. Crock of ste, that video, especially if I'm wrong as it just proved that I'm right!

In fact, if he'd done a two player Tetris with just world debt/govt waste vs third world debt, it'd make more sense.

This kind of style:
