There is a big danger in the current rush to demonise politicians. Over the past few years, the media has essentially decided that politicians are liars, cheats, untrustworthy and no good. We all know that some politicians have been their own worst enemies and that some of them do fit into the sterotyped description.
But by holding them all up to be worthless parasites, we are actually giving a green light for headcases and weirdoes to rationalise attacks like this. It's not unique to the USA either. We had an MP here injured in a sword attack.
Dangerous times.
Yeah but voting results in a change of tie colour and fk all else. So maybe shooting them might workBut by holding them all up to be worthless parasites, we are actually giving a green light for headcases and weirdoes to rationalise attacks like this. Might work in what way?
Idle silly talk like that (I hope it's idle and silly) is what plants seeds in the mind of the deranged.

The media doesn't really know what angle to take on this shooter.
Some of them are going with he's a commie who listed Das Kapital & The Communist Manifesto as his favourite books. Some of them are going with the "Sarah Palin/Glenn Beck told me to do it," theory.
WARNING!
Why its almost as if his motives are as confusing as possible! I wonder if he'd had any contact with the military recently? He recently tried to join the army, really.
If you believed this nonsense you might starting using the phrases MK Ultra and Manchurian Candidate.....
Wonder who she's pissed off.

A very sad incident and no doubt there will be some in the US who think she got what she deserved.
Which is utterly, utterly despairing - and a kick in the face for democracy.Edited by Eric Mc on Sunday 9th January 09:41
You get the representation you deserve, as someone once said...

An astonishing view, the world's media have him down as a right wing crackpot and are blaming the rhetoric Palin has been spouting as a trigger point for the attack.Trying to bring Palin into this as a factor in his action smacks of sheer desparation
I was watching the press conference with the local sheriff who seemed a thoroughly decent old guy. He said that Arizona was like the Mecca for bigotry. Not sure what he meant but the Mayor had a slightly 'softer' approach. Two members of the public brought the fecker down, one being a woman. It's a little ironic that his target took a bullet THROUGH the head and will survive whilst the 6 dead are, well..............dead, including a 9 year old girl.
This NRA boollocks about "Guns don't kill people, people kill people" has got to be shown for what it is. The constitutional right to bear arms has been abused for generations, it was only ever meant to protect America as a land, not individuals land as it is now interpreted. Charlton Heston and his cronies in the NRA have a lot of blood on their hands as far as I'm concerned and the sooner the big boys in American legislature grow some balls and rebut this ridiculous 'interpretation' of the constitution the better.
That moose hunting backwater sow Sarah Palin wants a good hiding as well for the leaflets her 'campaign' has produced which actually showed Giffords behind the crosshairs as a target! Erm, hello!!!! There are nutters out there with guns!!
Another sad day for the world's largest democracy.

All the rest is conjecture. How would I be barking up the wrong tree by citing the above? What is the right tree then - oh, and no conjecture in your reply please

Peaceful protest and angry letter writing does fk all in the UK.
The list of things that brings change in the UK is getting bloody short.
Shooting one of them will bring about nothing but more of us and them
if we shot the lot of them might bring change

I think the communist manifesto supports my point. You have obviously read his list of reading material, but chose to ignore this book.
