Yes removing the bust of Winston Churchill from the Oral office. I'd respect him far less for keeping it all things considered...

I think the Republican party is going to reap what they have sown at the next election. The Tea Party has taken over the GOP and I don't think the nation sees Palin as presidential. So unless something happens to make Clinton run in the primary, I think he'll make it to two terms.
Once more for the slow; Palin will not even be nominated. If you rely on your news to fill you in on this, you are missing out. She is a crowd pleaser, a warmup act for a main event.

Jimbeaux, I know nothing about it, but I have a friend who's convinced that Palin will be next president, which normally I wouldn't take much notice of but he's got a reputation of being usually correct. He correctly predicted Ed Milliband to beat his brother in the Labour leadership battle, even though David was a massive odds on favourite.

Palin is currently trading as 2nd favourite to be the republican nominee, and is third favourite to be next president.

Just curious as to why you feel so sure she won't do it, and in which case who will?
Just my feeling and in discussion with others. My pick is Mitt Romney.

On a more serious note than my previous post hehe ...

Jim, not realy being that clued up on the US political thing, and with time zones being 12 hours arse about face our US political news has usually been heavily dummed down!!

Who are the likely possible runners for Republican and Democrat or is there a good dummies guide link to the runners?

Have to wonder how different things might have been (if at all) if Billary or McCain had won the race to 1600 Pensylvania avenue
Barry O will likely headline the Dems unless the party talks him into not running so they can put Hillary up to it.
I believe the Repubs will run Mitt Romney, Haley Barber, or a lesser known. More to come as time permits. All good questions for discussion BTW. smile

Of course there's a saying... "It takes a Carter to get a Reagan".
Just what you need, a president who cannot remember his name or whether he has shat himself 5 minutes ago. Perhaps that should read, it takes a Cinton to get a bush jnr..... Shudder.......
So very weak.
It was, I concede. Although, more correctly, it should read, takes a Carter to get a Nancy, the ace ventriloquist.

Either way, deceitful, sociopathic politicians are one of the few constants in the world along side taxes and death, changing the colour of said politician or allegiance is not going to make much of a difference to the final outcome.mad

Long time no see Jim, doing okay ?smile
Good points. Doing fine thanks. You? smile

Considering he was pulled up on that twice on the first page, I do think your outrage on page 4 is probably a bit late. Someone even posted a picture of a hippo!

Anyway, live it up.

(Can I call you a "f****** c***" for a punctuation error? wink )
Yeah but I wanted to extend the fun just a little longer.

Yes you can call me whatever you like, I've had the lot chucked at me in here. Like most things though its water of a ducks back for me. I'm not afraid to say what I want and if you lot don't agree, which is extremely unlikely I know, but I'm happy not to be a hypocrite.

I think you've underestimated to what extent mentals have taken over the Republican Party. If not her, then maybe the "I'm not a witch" lady, but it's highly unlikely they'll not end up with a moderate candidate.

You are saying that they WILL end up with a moderate? I think you are right. smile Palin or the "Not a witch" lady will not even make the run. It would appear that your media is determined to make you all believe that one of those is a forgone conclusion. Romney is the current Republican leader. I understand that the left portions of the media want one of those women running as it will aid their cause. smile

I read that back through and thought I had taken the "not" out. biggrin

I think the big problem with this is that although Romney is a good choice for the republicans in 2012 (and certainly his record with fixing deficits), his coming from Massachusetts is going to make him seem a little bit too..."Coastist" in the Primaries, where I think the Tea Party, assuming it hasn't fallen apart by that point, is going to be much better at getting the vote out. There's certain things in Romney's past (views on abortion for starters) that the Tea Party will grab onto like pitbulls.

The election is still the GOP's to lose I think, but they do need to make sure they can present a united front and make sure they can avoid the nastiness we've seen over the last year.

Fortunately the internet lets us look at some local affiliate stations for US news, and we get a nightly show from ABC here on the BBC. I'll admit a fairly strong preference for the left-wing in US politics, but oddly I vote the other way in the UK.

All well said. yes It is refreshing to hear a Brit admit that much of the media has a left lean to it. smile

We certainly lean further to the left than you do. Quite where vertical is, I have no idea. If I did no doubt I would rule the world. biggrin
