But the comments that seemed to cause most offence came from Hammond?

If anyone thinks that this episode was broadcast without everyone involved being fully aware of the likely repercussions then they're deluded. I guess it was done deliberately to be controversial and provoke a reaction.

Does he? He's not involved with producing, directing or scripting is he?

Could this not be considered as comedy?

What happens when a comedian takes the piss out of a certain ethnic group - do they rise up as one and complain? No, they laugh and move on. usually

"Iris de la Torre, a jewellery design student in London"

Presumably, her visa and permission to stay/work in this country are all in order.

Miserable bd.

I am shocked that nobody Australian is having a pop for the comments made during that episode too.

Why do people get so offended by TV? He should just start an I hate top gear facebook group.

Trouble is, it wasn't even funny.
It was quite odd. Maybe aimed at North American viewers?

I've certainly never heard the one about "the Englishman, Irishman, Scotsman and Mexican"

Lawrence Davies from Equal Justice told the Guardian: 'These remarks were probably calculated and deliberate to fuel anger and hence boost ratings.

'The presenters apparently feel that they are fighting a battle against political correctness. However, they are not permitted to use unlawful means to do so and broadcast their racist thoughts. A broadcast is a service and it is unlawful to product racist services.'
Is it racist anyway, the Mexicans aren't a race. It might be xenophobic but it's not actually racist is it? How does this work.

Is a website a service? Could fat pompous stingy Yorkshiremen now sue PHs if someone said something bad about them?

Anyway people are talking about it and dailymailclarksonmen are again in protest about "political correctness gone mad". So ratings go up and job done. hehe

It's in the top line of the story.

"A Mexican has instructed lawyers to bring a test case against Top Gear after her countrymen were branded 'lazy, feckless and flatulent' on the hit show"

Perhaps you missed that bit.

Perhaps I meant it as in why is this indivudual taking them to court?

Maybe she believes some falsehood was propagated by the show that has wrongly tarnished her?
