These Libyan rebels seem to have an awful lot of weapons - where the hell did they all come from?!

Guns aren't quite so uncommon in the middle east. Quite where the rocket launchers are coming from is another matter.

I saw the news where one was holding a rocket launcher, LAW80. He was saying "It has a part missing, doesn't fire" Pretty pointless him carrying it, just goes to show with intelligence like that, kadaffi's forces will eventually win.

The only way the rebels have a chance to win is if the Americans give them some Javalin anti tank missles, some SA-7 type surface to air shoulder launched missiles and show them how to use them.

They get them from raiding army supply depots and from defections from the Libyan army.

They were carrying some military communications kit which they hoped to hand over to the rebel leadership.

The rebels issues are more likely to be leadership and organisation than any lack of weaponry, they should almost be default have a reasonable proportion of the Libyan army's weapons simply because they should be in control of the various army bases in and around Benghazi.

Properly led they should be able to hold out in the various urban areas and make taking them by the army a massively expensive task.

They were shown firing rocket artilery at a town the other day.
These are not smart weapons god knows who they could have killed. No mention of it though just that they should not be attacked from teh air because that would not be fair.

Surely, if Gadaffi does wipe out the rebels.. He won't be able to continue as leader? It just doesn't work, half your Country hates you.

It does make me think we should drop them off a few Typhoons and some pilots and have a fair battle.
