Any information on where the Turkish shells landed? That may give an indication to which side fired from Syria.

I hope for once the the larger conspiracy does not work, and the perpetrators get bitten hard.

There's no conspiracy. It's greedy people scratching other greedy people's backs, nothing more. Big Oil wins, the Military Industrial Complex wins, Politicians win (Hey our country is a mess sure, but what about the terrorists?? And the Iranian nukes??). The only people that lose are the middle and working class who pay through the noses to have the middle and working classes in another continent wiped out.

I struggled with what word to use and thought was the most all embracing smile. But really it is all about he guy with the biggest gun and what he wants, and when he wants it.

With this going on in Syria its a sadly familiar state of affairs frown
So if the US gives up on all foreign adventures & military adventures.... that will help their deficit and leave the world to evolve naturally.

The Turkish deputy PM says Syria has apologised for a mortar strike on a border town in Turkey which left five civilians dead.

It seems the Turks do not want to escalate this accidental strike.

So, the Syrian government 'fessed up? Several Syrian artillery officers are going to have a difficult week.

Yes there was cross border fire earlier on, whoever this was got pasted the Turks use the German fire detection radar IIRC. So they will have shelled the origination point of the fire whoever it may have been.
Correct, and seven Syrian soldiers were killed.

Turkey is the most heavily armed nation in Europe after the UK and France... it's hard to say.

Perhaps they were trying to send the rebels a message they could not hide across the border

Does Turkey have clean hands? Regardless, daft to aggravate the situation whilst they are fighting the civil war. Any other time, this would have been resolved quietly.

Even the NY Times was speculating yesterday about rebel involvement.

Don't mess with Turkey. Their huge military is equipped and trained to NATO standards, they could march clean through Syria in a few days with little effort.

Exactly, and Syria knows that so why provoke them.
