I don't think Syria and Russia winning was part of the plan.

Plan B seems to be: use the Kurds to balkanize Syria and steal the big oil fields in the North East. I hope that fails too.

Given we've consistently refused to equip the Kurds with anything heavier than small arms and have just watched the Iraqis kick them out of Kirkuk that seems like a spectacularly schizoid idea.

With the turmoil in Saudi politics, sorry family feuds, with Saudi princes being "accidented" in helicopter crashes and shot in "arrest" attempts, Qatar no longer in the ISIS supporting game, there may well be genuine hope for Syria now. Although, it seems the Saudi are now causing turmoil in Lebanon now. They certainly get around to all the fun spots.

A new development in warfare happening in Syria. Swarm drone attacks. We are seeing the future here.

Indeed. Let's hope none of those drones get into the "wrong" hands.

Erdogan has lost patience with Kurds. Let us hope no escalation with the Russians again.

Lunatic? He has a big army. The US wouldn't fight him. Do you think they would?

I don't think US would be afraid to fight Turkey, it's more they need Turkey as an ally.

Turkey has a very large well equipped army.
Part of NATO, Russia backed away from a escalatiob. It can't just bully another and get away with it with other countries.

If the American backed Kurdish forces attack the border of Turkey will NATO take any action? Turkey won't be stupid and attack American forces directly but they will cross the border and attack the Kurdish forces in Syria. If the Israelis can make preemptive strikes in Syria against anti Israeli forces (and no one says anything) then how can you lecture Turkey when they do the same?

Erdogan may be a big see you next tuesday but I don't blame the Turks for being a bit nervous here.

All parties are fairly limited in being able to do so other than by using ground forces as Syria have already stopped a number of attacks by Israel using the missile defence systems given to them by Russia and reportedly shot down an Israeli jet a week or two ago using their defence system iirc.

Found a couple of links on YouTube. I wondered how the Israelis were able to apparently fly in to Israel with impunity like that, apparently not so much though.

This new Kurdish thing has my head in bits. Can someone simplify it fir me?

USA support Kurds and rebel Syrians in this area.
Russia support the Kurds but not the rebel Syrians.
Turkey support the rebel Syrians but not the Kurds.

Russia controls the airspace.
