We are using the Calibrand on line study notes (their route to post RDR qualications is via 6 units).

Unit 1 "Financial Services, Regulations and Ethics is a 80 question exam (time permitted is 90 minutes//multiple choice (guess)).

Study notes for this unit runs to 453 pages!

I have read a few articles in trade press regarding the delay in the FSA implementing the 2012 deadline.

But my thinking is that it WILL go ahead whether advisers are ready (or not)?

I think its wishful thinking on the part of the industry. I for one hope it goes ahead and shakes a fair bit of the dead wood out of financial advice.
Same tired old model being prostituted by the saem tired old names.

(not that RDR is perfect far from it)

The last FSa response i read was the one thing that wouldn't and couldn't change is the RDR implementation date. I hope they stick to that.

No studying needed for me thankfully as we are product provider and I don't give advice, but I've heard a few stories of people not bothering and packing in the advice come 2013. As already mentioned, RDR isn't going to go away (not even after 1.1.2013 with RDR part deux nd MiFID2).

My wife and I sat the Pension Planning examination at 1230hrs today at Calibrand's offices in Derby today and an email received tonight confirmed we have both PASSED.

Fanbloodytastic result.

We have taken and passed 5 out of the 6 modules and the last one will be taken 13th of December.
