How to sell shares on Australian stock exchange
Discussion
Hi, Just hoping the combined knowledge of pistonheads could help me with a slight problem.
I have some Commonwealth Bank of Australia shares that I wish to sell. They have to be sold on the Australian stock exchange.
As I'm in the UK I'm finding it difficult to do this on the net or to find a UK broker that will do this by phone.
Can anyone make any suggestions or recommend an easy way to do this.
Thanks in advance for any help.

When I used to do this, I had an account with Commsec. I did open it when I lived in Aus so not sure if you can do it as a UK based national. Worth a look though.
In fact I still have 15000 shares in COP M&M which is a mining company that was supposed to go tech in the last dot com boom. It would cost me more in brokerage fees to sell them than they're worth!

Try TD Waterhouse although I can't get their link to work to check if they cover the Australian market.

Thanks everyone for your help. I eventually found a firm in Australia who conducted the sale and transferred the money in sterling to my UK bank account. There was quite a bit of paperwork to fill in though however I was very pleased with their service.
If anyone else is in the same boat, I can recommend the firm, Hartley's (no they don't make jam) of Perth in Australia.
Not sure if I'm allowed to give a link for them (mods please delete this paragraph if you must) I have no connection with them other than I've just sold my shares through them. www.hartleys.com.au
