from my account.

Tried to withdraw £100 on sunday morning, machine whurred like normal but did not give me my money.

When the shop opened I went in and they said it had run out of money but they dont operate the machine themselves

Went in my bank just now and they said they have to send someone from head office to request the machine be balanced and this could take up to 10 days

Anyone had anything similar? how long did it take and what was the outcome?

Twice.

First time £250 came out of the slot in-branch but I was talking to my daughter who was excited about someting. The machine sucked it back in and my bank had to request action from Barclays. Barclays ignored them so my own bank refunded me after the fourteen day limit was reached.

Recently, expecting a similar outcome, the same thing happened to me as you have described. This was a Co-op ATM in a Co-op shop. Within five minuted the ATM had rectified the mistake and the money was back in my account.

I had this the other day and they do a count at the end of the day which checks the amount

Normally you get it credited back after a day or two

Wtf does an ATM issue have to do with 'Finance'? Another epically poor piece of moderating!

Had similar the other week but again the machine knew it hadn't paid it out - I called my bank and it was back in my account in hours...

Did make me think using ones own bank machines is a good idea...

I once went to take money out of an ATM on the way to the pub, was only taking out £20 for a couple of pints. Anyway, did my thing at the ATM, took my card, but walked off without taking the cash - a moment of stupidity with my mind on other things.

Anyway, got to the pub, realised I hadn't taken the money, ran a tab and paid for the drinks with a debit card.

Checked the bank the next day, £20 debited, but couldn't be arsed to spend 30 minutes on the phone for the sake of £20 so left it. It was returned to my account a few days later with no action on my part.

HSBC card, Sainsburys ATM.

This is because its only left in the slot for a few seconds before being sucked back in and deposited in the fail box.

This what happened to my £250 when I was putting my card away and talking to my daughter.

Where the money isnt actually dispensed, with newer ATMs, the problem is self-rectified within a few minutes.

The bank i used to work for would either just give you the money if you called to report what happened to you, depending on the amount and if you had claimed the same before, or would have to wait for the report from the machine.

If it was a machined owned by the bank it would be something that could be accessed quite quickly (sometimes), but if it was a machine owned by another back then this would take longer, or worse if it was an "owner filled" machine where the merchant filed the machine this could be un-reconcilable.

So i may take a while yes, although i would suggest that if you call and speak to complaints and threaten to complain to the FSA then you will get your money back fairly quickly as an FSA complaint will cost them £600 in fines.

Hi, On Saturday 18th May at my local co-op atm inside shop I was activating my new card and typed in a £200.00 withdrawal. Then somehow distracted the atm drew my cash back in but the receipt shows that the transaction went through. I did not get the money. Told the guys at the counter but the were not helpful. Will the atm sort this out as it is a new atm machine and wil my account have that £200.00 put back? A few minutes later I withdrew £10.00 to make sure my new card is activated as I had to pay for items on eBay.
HELP. Cheers.

As long as the £200 was not taken from the cash machine, the balance will correct itself. How long this takes will depend upon your bank.

Nothing to worry about - it happens more than you would think.

Or it may be physically withdrawn and dumped into the fail box. This needs actual recovery (the security people do this I believe) and the audit roll checking.

If the money doesn’t appear prompotgen raise it with you bank.
