Sadly for me, I've done a lot better in the past month at that game than in real life.

Only 16 out of 69 have still got the original £10k left laugh

I'm not one of those 16 frown (So the game is very realistic then!)

I've dropped 3 places today and have "earned" £412 from my £10k. Pretty poor rate of return considering some relatively risky trades (albeit nowhere like the risk of other players!).

In real life I've had an almost entirely static month. Not the end of the world and at least it suggests some stability but would really like to see some upwards movement in the new year. That said, can't see anywhere else that has prospects of decent returns in the present climate.

With a little discipline (stop losses) and some strategy (targets) some of those massive gains that a few made would have been banked.

Also the people who are sitting on massive losses could have controlled their losses with stops.

Couple of very simple lessons to be learned here. Have a trading plan. When are you going to enter, where would you like to exit and at what point do you say enough is enough and cut your losses.

The biggest problem I found was not so much knowing when to cut my losses or when to bank my gains, it was simply that most of my shares moved very little in the entire month. I think I ended about £300 down and most of that was due to commision, stamp duty and spreads.

I wonder if in real life it would have mattered, as you wouldn't have the time pressure imposed by the game. I guess it depends how much you could afford to have the cash tied up in slow/non moving stock.

which one?

Does this mean that I'm finally off the bottom?

Wasabi Energy - bought last week to try a last minute attempt to make quick gains on a volatile share. The price has been frozen where it was (sorry kiethton) but I can't now sell

Congratulations to tilley441 at £12,616. Over +£2.5k in a month is truly excellent going.

Commiserations to Mini_Me bringing up the rear at £6,104.

Thanks to all who took part, hope you had fun and learned a thing or two, I certainly did.

Merry Christmas to all, wishing you all health, wealth and prosperity thumbup

Thanks for organising the game. I certainly learnt a thing or two.

I would certainly be interested in any follow-ups.

Thanks Matt,
Great idea, I'm sure you have saved many people many hundreds or maybe thousands in their future investing.

Over 20% in a month, pretty good. (Tilley)

Ha ha! That's pretty amazing. At least I have made some sort of impression all be it the wrong kind. I'm frankly amazed at how much one can lose in such a short space of time. Even the winning amount is not great compared to where some, me included, were halfway through. Well done for setting it up and well done Tilley. Next Month though. Next month!

I got screwed by Putinsmile
After the Ukrainians sided with the Ruskies over Europe I was sure the Russians would give them the loot they needed. (and my BGEO would benefit)
They stalled on the loan, so did BGEObiggrin, had to sell as it was a 30 day game.
Of course just after I sold they got the money and BGEO moved to where I thought it should be.

But....I thought this would be won with about 10 to 12% so that is what I aimed for.
Wrong on the winning figure and failed on my target.

Note to self, brush up on the UK market before next game.

I wonder how much fantasy stamp duty this game this game produced.

Happy Christmas....it's ok to say that that rightsmile

That was brilliant and thanks again for organising....

Would anybody be interested in another to run from now but over the course of the year? - with it being a little longer people would surely operate as they would in reality?
