Do you still use cash?
Discussion
One of my houses is the back of beyond and the nearest cash machine is a round trip of about 20 miles or 50 minutes. It's bloody expensive when a tradesman says he needs paying in cash and there isn't enough in the house.
I'm looking forward to tradesmen with electronic tools to take payment.

I look forward to a tradesman rocking up with a wireless card payment system. I suppose it will happen one day but it's hard to imagine!
https://squareup.com/Of course, that would mean all tradesmen having to declare everything.....
Personally I never use cash-unless absolutely no alternative- and I never carry cash.
I don't even carry a cash/debit card.
Emergency cash I can withdraw from my amex (something like five thousand should I have the need, last time I checked), and if its cash for a specific need or purchase then I will go to the bank for it in advance. Tradespeople are usually happy to accept a cheque anyway.

people in front of me at the bar paying with cards are annoying. (don't even get me started on people who order coffee)
Cash for the pub and corner shops, that's about it.
Agree with that!Cash for the pub and corner shops, that's about it.
I was behind a young woman in Costas the other day. She unrolled a huge wallet of cards and used one to pay for a coffee, total cost about £2.40
It's a bit sad if you don't keep a couple of quid in loose change for such things.
And then there's the cashback/airmiles for using a card that you don't get with cash.
If I used cash for everything then I wouldn't be flying to Bermuda next week in 1st class!

depending upon the bar there might only be one machine which is shared between staff
and and and and
I pretty much always use my debit card.
I find it quicker to pop it in the slot, type in my PIN and withdraw the card then finding the right change or waiting for the checkout operator to count out my change for me.
Advantage is I just carry my card and not a bulky wallet full of cash.

Much to the frustration of everybody I never carry cash....
relaxed pint with the GF - CC
McDonalds - CC
99p Pret coffee -CC
Make a tidy sum from my Egg/Amex Platinum cashback cards annually
The only time I get cash is for a specific purpose, most recently the work xmas do when we had to each contribute £50, other than that its when I know I'm on a boozy night out....sets a limit to my spending!

Was on a Flybe flight recently and only wanted a cup of tea. They have the nerve to charge me 2.50 for a tea bag and some water then tell me I can't pay for anything less than a fiver on a card. Either offer a card payment option for everything or nothing. Rarely have cash nowadays so I was stuck.

I use cash a lot.
It fks me off waiting for some utter tool paying for a pack of 50p gum with their bloody debit card. And guess what happens when the banks systems goes Pete Tong, you can't use you card to pay for things a cup of coffee or a cab fair for example.
I always have £100-£200 in my wallet.

200 gbp is roughly 3/4 of the take home weekly wage of someone working for the minimum wage or thereabouts ...
you are Harry Enfield's Plasterer ( character) AICMFP
that said there is no reason not to have a modest sum of cash on you / tucked in a cubbyhole in the car for those exact same buying a chocolate bar or card machines playing up situation.
