So recently (roughly 3 weeks ago) I agreed to a PCP deal through VW on a new Golf R. I have left a £500 deposit.

However I now wish to cancel this order as my circumstances have changed. Where do I stand? Do I need to write to them cancelling my agreement? Will there be any additional costs?

Have you taken delivery of the car?

If you haven't taken delivery of the car yet and have only ordered it then one would assume you haven't signed the finance documents yet, if that is the case then cancel the deal, expect to lose your £500 deposit and move on.

If you have taken delivery of the car you will have 14 days (I think) to cancel the PCP agreement but you will still have to pay for the car via other means.

Ask them nicely first. They'll almost certainly say the deposit isn't refundable, but push a little and most will refund.

If you need to:
Have you got a copy of the dealer's terms and conditions?

If not, you can cancel without penalty.

If you have, then do they allow the dealer to cancel without penalty? If yes, then you can cancel without penalty.
