Basically I'm spending around £3-5K a month on a credit card, so would like to get something back for this.

Either cashback or airmails etc.

However I only pay myself a £12K Salary, so am having troubles getting accepted anywhere.

American express etc don't want to know.

The best i can find is Tesco (which i currently use)

I have a pretty good credit rating etc.

Does anyone know of any decent reward cards that don't have salary requirements?

Cheers

You're spending £3-5k a month and only have a £12k salary? scratchchin

Well I'm a contractor and have a £9k salary but I don't put that on the credit card application form, I just put day rate * 5 * 48. It's not like they actually check your salary, but if they do then I'll just send them a copy of my contract.

Expenses - may as well get some sort of cashback on them!

Not sure why you would pay 12k salary. I'm currently at 8k.

The question on the cc application form is about income not salary so just declare that from all sources.

Its a nice even number scratchchin

Anyway thanks guys, i followed the link, and applied for the Virgin Atlantic Black Amex card and amazingly got accepted!

Only a £2700 limit though, i suppose i can just payoff as and when.

£140 yearly fee, then 2 airmiles per pound spent, plus 18,500 free airmiles for joining.

so does not seem too bad.

Found out this week that Capital One Mastercard will cease to pay cashback (1% uncapped)as of the end of May frown

Have an AmEx cashback card but most Companies I spend with don't take it. My Barclaycard only pays 0.5% & think it is capped, I spend £10-15k pm.

Any ideas? Hate to lose a nice little tax free bonus every year but can't seem to find a decent alternative, best so far is NatWest/RBS paying 0.5%

You say you are "paying yourself" £12k, which implies a company in between. As such, surely it is a company credit card and, at the risk of being pedantic, it is the company which receives the cashback?

Credit card is in my personal name, which is used for the expenses.

I then pay myself (from business) to claim back the expenses.

I do however have a company CC, but there is no incentives to use it really.
Same as i do have accounts with suppliers, but more beneficial to use CC and get something back.
