Hello.

Just a quick question which the DLA couldn't give me an answer to except "it's standard procedure" which doesn't cut it with me.

I informed the various HMRC and DWP depts of my mother's death and have received a letter back from the DLA requiring all the executors' DOBs, NINOs, addresses and full bank account details as "we need to make sure that all payments have been made correctly".

What the hell has any of that got to do with the executors? For a start giving them that information will tell them absolutely nothing about whether payments have been correctly. Second, the information is none of their damn business and has no relevance. Third, as the payments were made directly to her Post Office benefits account which was set up by themselves they can instantly see from their own accounting records whether there have been any over or underpayments and if there have then they can inform me and I would make the necessary arrangements to settle the difference.

The cynic in me sees this as nothing more than a snooping exercise mad. Naturally, I await the tin foil hat jpegs and "if you've nothing to hide" replies from the usual suspects but can anyone come up with a good reason why they require this completely irrelevant info? confused

The letter is currently sitting in the pile above the shredder.

I would guess they mean deceased not executor. That would be more sensible, but then again it is the DWP tongue out

Negative sir, they already have that info. It clearly states on each page depending on if she did/did not leave a will :

DWP form said:
What is the name, national insurance number, date of birth and address of each executor of the will?
