I did that for a few years but I figured that I could no longer be assed so I pay someone else to be assed.

£600 sounds very pricey for a simple tax return based on PAYE income only.

IT Sales and I work in startups so pay fluctuates quite a bit and I have been through a few acquisitions so some share options etc. Was kind of hoping the accountant would be able to help me claim more against my tax bill but so far that has been limited to tax on pension contributions at the higher rate.
