Reason behind the massive numbers: Bucket Shop.

Sift through that, looking at employment histories. My guess is that the bulk will be less than 3 years and have history at high street banks or 'advisory' brokers.

Ah, but they have nice brochures though.

Must be mistaking me for someone else - I'm only interested in determining the facts.

Said the guy who has had the facts explained to him multiple times by multiple posters. But doesn't like the facts he's hearing so is searching for some alternative ones. laugh

Out of interest what is your background/experience do determine which of these "facts" are indeed facts at not merely opinion?

I'd be genuinely interested to see some valid facts (valid being relevant (i.e. not comparing advised pricing with non-advised) and backed with some evidence). I posted some a while back but not seen much since.

It reminds me of a decade ago when everyone was an overnight expert on the credit markets - fun times.

Take regulated advice, the stakes are too big to screw things up.
Thanks, I will take advice, but most of my pot won't be subject to tax. It gained no tax benefits when invested, and so is not subject to any when spent later, one of the "benefits" of the government having so heavily restricted what higher earners can put into pensions nowadays.

I have posted numerous evidence on this thread, but on each occasion you have stuck your fingers in your ears and gone "la la la".

As for my background/experience, it is one that makes me extremely informed. Unlike yourself. You seem to be seeking someone's validation of your preference for SJP, rather than having the courage of your convictions. Why do you not just go ahead and give them your money, rather then seeking the impossible of a direct fee comparison over 10 years with an IFA? Which many people have tried to tell you is not achievable.

At the risk of stating the bleedin' obvious, you could also just check their initial charges for pensions on their website:

"Advice Charges
We charge for our initial advice and for our ongoing advice. 4.5% of your initial investment will be used to pay for initial advice and an annual charge of 0.5% will be charged for the ongoing advice and the relationship with your adviser."

Well, I'll be hoping to live between the home in the North and one in France, so no London living costs, I'll have no mortgage, and as above, will likely pay little tax, so yes, £100k a year should buy a very nice retirement.

How much are you planning on then, if my plans seem too modest?
Well I've not got a plan, tbh. Retirement was forced on me at the end of 2015 and so far has been very different but really enjoyable.

I'm amazed at the drop in expenditure tho', and I think I've seriously overcooked it given the way things seem to be panning out.

Not 'someone', circumstances. I sustained serious injuries which require me to do a few years of fairly intense physio which- amongst other things- precludes me from playing a fully active participatory role. At my age (65) the physio regime alone is very tiring. To work as well would really be impossible, and by the time the intense physio is finished I don't think I'll really be in the mood for any more work adventures.

Prior to that I'd never have retired. It never felt like 'work' at all. Mind you the missus is well happy with it. And as it turns out, so am I.

TWIT-FOR-TW4T!!!!!!

You are summoned to the "retirement income" thread IMMEDIATELY!!

Reports are coming in from all over the site that you are being an 'odious toad' amongst other descriptions, and I'm afraid, as my current bh, this has to stop AT ONCE!!

You've also been told to drop the "Hyena" reference. Hyenas are pack animals and so far it appears you are neither welcome in a pack nor suitable to gather or lead one. Kindly change your soubriquet to JawBee, which is eminently more appropriate!!

Now, if you don't mind, report to 'retirement income' for a spanking, and some basic retraining in the art of internet repartee

furious

Lol, only by dickywoo, whose grasp of all things financial is even more tenuous than yours, unbelievably. Some people just can't cope with being mugged off, so resort to calling their educator things like "odious" laugh

Is it time for a deep fried Mars bar yet?

Ok, in a very short space of time I've been 'off' with trickywoo, banzai man, jockman (politest of blokes), nick frog, and many others whose grasp of a variety of things, including financial 'things' is completely unknown to me unsurprisingly as I've only been here 5 minutes. People don't enjoy a shallow smartass trying to 'mug them off', most particularly when he's a 2-bob-rocket that any of them could buy and sell. So understandably they've referred to me as "odious" amongst other epithets.

I will henceforth change my name to 'JAWBEE' and refrain from being deliberately offensive.

Apologies, folks.

Yours

JAWBEE
Corrected that for you.

Don't let me down, bh. Otherwise you could find yourself posting on some starter BMW site where nobody fits in because they all hate being irritating anonymous nonentities and compete with each other to prove it.

Also, remember, in these parts quite a few of us LIKE being 'wrong' and prosper from it, and really wouldn't have it any other way.

Do you mean 'written"?

And what makes you think I'm a "jock" (racist term)? Because I live in Scotland? Hmm. Isn't that a bit of a value judgement?

I'm wondering on what criteria your self-proclaimed 'wisdom' is based. It appears - tho' once again I could be wrong - that you form opinions of people as 'muppets', 'cockwombles', 'throbbers', 'bellend' etc etc on the most threadbare of information about them.

Is your 'wisdom' and 'advice' based on similar shallow generalisation?

Put some meat on these fragile bones. Give us some background? Nothing to be ashamed of, I hope......

.....and what happened to 'JAWBEE'? You have to admit, it's pretty spot on, no?

You're overstepping the mark by a mile imo Hyena.

This is supposed to be a forum for adults...
