996 GT3 in classifieds - Cobalt Blue
Discussion
Not my fav colour, but still curious about its price. I'm sure i've seen it for sale for some time, and it's price is comparatively low compared to others.

Not spaceship high miles, not low either.
I havent contacted the trader, but i've read up on them. Seems they are bit difficult to deal with. Suspect its SOR anyway.
Any back story to the car? Wasnt initially looking at GT3s, more 996 Turbos.

A GT3 going through that dealer would always raise questions.
Looking at the car it looks an odd spec & has had non GT3 bits as trim. Looking at the pictures the bonnet also doesn't seem to line up with the bumper.
PCCBs with sports seats seems strange. The proliferation of carbon in the cabin looks aftermarket, the radio is not original, the steering wheel is not original spec, ditto gaiters to gear lever & handbrake. This is just what is obvious from the photo's & I'm sure others will spot more stuff.
PS : other than Guards I think Cobalt is the best colour on the 996 GT3s

The letters on the number plate would be the biggest concern.Looking at the car it looks an odd spec & has had non GT3 bits as trim. Looking at the pictures the bonnet also doesn't seem to line up with the bumper.

Thanks for the pointers. I had noticed the bonnet/bumper panel gap, but was unsure if that was to do with the lighting.Looking at the car it looks an odd spec & has had non GT3 bits as trim. Looking at the pictures the bonnet also doesn't seem to line up with the bumper.

Guards red is the colour i'm after (TT).... but I'd prob stretch to a GT3 if they were all this price!

Don't get me wrong on the points I raised, it's just some of it seems "odd" & coming from this dealer, would cause me to ask a lot of questions.Guards red is the colour i'm after (TT).... but I'd prob stretch to a GT3 if they were all this price!
Guard's red 996's are rare.... especially in TT form.

Strange place the PH Porsche forum nowadays...
Assuming one wanted to actually drive and enjoy the car as it's makers intended, as opposed to wrap it up in cotton wool, polish it, cogitate over its spec (or its impact on future residuals), its "investment potential" (all of which seem to be far more important than the actual driving of the cars to the average Porsche PH owner/contributor these days...) the only thing I'd struggle with would be the Comfort seats.
(and the fact it's the "inferior" Mk2 version obviously)
And the vendor ...... and the strange bonnet/front bumper shut line you've already alluded to
I've said it before and I'll say it again -- notwithstanding the horror stories that have adorned these pages over the years about HWM -- I bought an M5 off them in around 2003 and it was a first class car, deal superb, nice people to deal with, all 100% happy.
But I appreciate this is the exception

My 996 has the interior carbon "set" option (or whatever it's called). The kit fitted looks right but should include the gear knob and handbrake - not evident on this car. Edited by GT03ROB on Tuesday 25th April 05:43

Easily fixed with a couple of aftermarket buckets? I replaced my drivers seat with a Sparco and whilst it was a pig to get in and out of there's no doubt one felt more at one with the chassis. toobusy said:

Added a whole new dimension to its feel (and a bh to get in and out of...)
