If you also believe that the graph is true, why not just buy some equities or something - the boom is over, according to the graph?
Agreed. Charts like that are handy labels to pin trading platitudes too after the event.

Hopefully the OP's post was a bit tongue in cheek about trading based on it.
That graph has been around for at least six months maybe longer.

I am into cryptocurrency since 2009. I always looking for ways to get more BTC. Not so long ago I read on ICO Pulse about bitcoin faucet bot, it's is an algorithm capable to repeat user actions. The profit growth when using the robot happens due to the parallel collection of coins simultaneously on several bitcoin faucets. It automatically fills in the login/password and solves the captcha. I decided to try and use Bonus Bitcoin. Hope it works.

I would argue that since CME opened up easy access to more people, and the investors had the security of the exchange and clearing house behind them, the short sellers are more likely to enter the market
I don't think CME has had any meaningful impact on BTC. Margin deposit requirements are extremely high (over 40%). The company's CEO recently admitted this product is a "slow grower".

I read a prepublication copy of this new book over the Easter break. Highly recommended, even if you disagree with the hypotheses within it. It contains a lucid description of the history of money and why societies and governments changed the basis of money from era to era, from stones & seashells through to gold & fiat. Of course, it presents Bitcoin as the plausible next step in this evolution.

That doesn't surprise me at all. If you read Digital Gold (another must read: https://www.amazon.co.uk/Digital-Gold-Untold-Story... he comes across as a sensitive & somewhat naive soul from Bitcoin's early days who was roundly ripped off by Jed McCaleb (who himself continued scamming via Ripple & Stellar). Karpeles probably cares more about his cat Tibanne than making a billion $.

Ahh crap, I had a small holding in Verge I bought about a year ago as it was being tipped in a lot of places as one to watch. 2018 has ALL been bad news so far. Can someone wake me up in 2019 please, that's IF cryptocurrency makes a comeback which I am highly doubtful of right now.

A decentralised coin will always have problems reacting to issues. I wonder what the flaw was. I know other coins have issues, like zcash, no public ledger in theory someone hacked it could make a lot.

It was an amateur hour bug and the fix even more so, you can look on their github page, or on those reddit links people have linked to the commits. Maybe I'm misreading the situation but by my understanding it seems the devs didn't even realise their actions would break the blockchain and result in a hard fork...

Nothing really going on, if you have some spare cash buy in now. It will be a missed opportunity come Q4.

Inclined to agree. I've been adding to my LTC and XRP positions.

Unless you have a time machine and can go back to Q4 2017 you're throwing good money after bad.

I just don't see how the prices will get anywhere near where they were at the end of last year, beginning of this.

I remember every major news outlet publishing articles about how to buy crypto, people at work talk about signing up to Coinbase and buying their first bitcoin. We will never return to that level of mainstream hype.

Similarly, I can't see why the prices won't drop back to where they were at the beginning of last year. What's to stop ETH going back to under £10 and Bitcoin to £500?

Lack of liquidity possibly?

Spot on, the $20k bitcoin price in mid December was absolute peak bubble when everybody was talking about bitcoin. John McAfee was talking about bitcoin being worth $1 million by 2020 and the FOMO was at hysteria levels. This thread was full of people asking how to setup an account on Coinbase and moaning that the initial buying limit was too low. I remember watching an episode of Big Bang Theory around this time and the plot of the episode was them trying to find some bitcoins they had mined for fun years previously.

I spotted people on the train looking at bitcoin on their phones and even my girlfriend was messaging me to tell me that everyone in her work was talking about it. More experienced people on this thread were talking about altcoins, and how the FUN, XLM, TRX, XRP etc. coins they had bought were worth 10 times what they paid for them a month previously.

99.99% of these coins are nothing more than a white paper and some twitter hype, unless they actually produce something of any use they will all disappear.

I notice that the people on here who tried to tell us how clever they were as they did their research and bought the undervalues coins don't seem very vocal anymore......

What do you mean by that? I reckon that lack of liquidity harms BTC and ETH as they need a steady flow of fiat into the system to compensate the miners, which have electricity bills and rent that are fiat denominated.

Lack of liquidity would exacerbate a price fall in my book rather than prevent it.
