I’m thinking of lowering my car as I think it sits too high.
I’ve been doing some research on the PH forums and most suggest that just putting on some lowering springs just won’t cut the mustard. I’ll need a decent set of coilovers.
The price of coilovers vary massively, I’m not a regular track-day goer, but have been Spa recently, so don’t need massive adjustability and as the pork is my only car it needs to drivable on our roads.
I think I’ve settled on a set of Bilstein b16 pss9 - demon tweaks are offering a discount at the moment and the set are priced at around £1,800 inc VAT which is the best price I’ve found.
Does anybody have an advise regarding these? Ideally I’d like to speak with a decent garage that would be able to install these and align the car properly and to see if they have any comments on this product or if I’ll need to invest in any other upgrades (sway bar, toe links, control arms etc...) as the suspension seems a bit of a minefield really.
BTW I’ve heard a lot of good things about Centre of Gravity but was hoping there would be a place closer to SE London I could use.

Why would lowering springs not be enough? They will lower the car.

"Coil-overs" give you adjustability for different scenarios/roads/tracks. If you just want a lower car, springs would be enough.

Porsche M030 or X74 would do, or others swear by Ruf lowering springs.

A lot cheaper solution, if you won't be tweaking the car much.

It might be worth speaking to JZM as a friend of mine had his 996 corner weighted (he had KWv3 suspension BTW) & set up by them & he was pleased with their work - they're also closer than CofG who would also fit suspension for you if necessary.

JZM will undertake open wallet surgery, the OP needs to explore the various options and adhere to a budget, otherwise he'll be facing a huge bill for suspension options he doesn't need.

Arrange a call with CG and ask them to talk you through the options? They'll be able to guide you to what's best for your needs.

FWIW I'm in SE london and drove up to them to have my Ohlins fitted, stayed overnight in Atherstone and then spent most of the next two days getting under their feet as they fitted the suspension and set it up. Fun.

The reason I initially opted against just getting lowering springs is that the standard dampers have been spec’ed to be used with the standard springs. Surely using lowering springs with the original dampers will cause premature wear?
I might re-look into it and see if anyone else has had problems with this set-up.

If you want something that rides nice and don't need huge adjustability and want better quality damping then if they fit the Koni FSD is worth investigating. CG have fitted many of these too. Mine go with some H&R lower springs. This all replaced M030 on my Boxster.

I’ve looked up the H&R lowering springs and they are designed to work with standard shocks. They are priced at £260 for the set.

My car is an 2005 C4s with 94k miles so I’m thinking the car could do with some new coilovers anyway.

Crikey, how did that work?! I once asked Guildford to put a non-standard geo on my GT3 and they wouldn't touch it with a barge pole hehe

Check carnewal.com

I got my PSS10s from him and they were a few hundred quid cheaper than in the UK, admittedly before the pound shat itself over Brexit
