Well I've spent the half hour next to my ACF-50 covered bikes sobbing that they're away and I've run out of reasons not to spend time with my family, but thankfully my thoughts turn to next year.

So, same as last time chaps. Anyone care to share their 2018 biking goals with the collective?

Mine are;

1) At least one track day
2) An off-road motorcycle course
3) Do at least 4,000 miles on the Uganda Twin
4) Do at least 2,000 miles on the GSXR
5) At least three big tours up the highlands.

Stretch goals would be;

6) A ride in Europe before it's made needlessly difficult.
7) Get pattern fairings and restore the old CBR.

Based on the level of success in the last thread, if you like you can time save and just score out your goals, then add your excuses for failing now.

1) KTM 250 EXC-F (going through the motions now - holding off until number 5)
2) Romania off-roading for long weekend (booked / paid already)
3) Do at least 2,000 miles on the S1000RR (see 4)
4) At least one tour - France/Germany/Spain or Scotland - probably will join a group/tour as billy no mates
5) VW T6 Kombi (going through the motions now and getting quotes)
6) Upgrade leathers and helmet (both have shrunk..)

Reality is we are talking about having a second kid for next year... so all of the above will go to sh*t again like this year.

Some good, achievable goals there. Mine are:

1) Pass Mod1
2) Pass Mod2
3) Buy a bike!
4) Go explore Wales for a couple of days
5) Go up to the Highlands and do the west coast

Stretch:
6) Go to the Alps before it gets awkward

New forks tubes for my fizzy, the oil has completely vanished leaving only the springs for damping

Fix the speedo on my LC, fit new seat cover and get the tank sprayed again, also clean it as the last time it was cleaned was march.

Quick action throttle, ABS delete and some new EBC pads and a couple of thousand quids worth of tyre for the track bike.

Same sort of uk road trips into jockistan and my local roads and of course parking my arse at rothbury drinking coffee all day at the Vale Cafe in the sunshine while smoking as many cigars as I can before going home.

Maybe having a TD abroad with just the old knackers off here so I can rough them all up.

That's it.

Like Prof

At least 4000 miles on the Uganda twin - already 800 in so shouldn't be a problem.
The AT off road course in Wales
I may attempt a track day on the Africa twin!
Potential trip to Spain with my mates.

I like that the trend to call heavily financed CRF1000Ls, "Uganda Twins" seems to be catching.

1. sell two of my three bikes sat in the garage doing nothing.
2.Couple of track days at Donnington
3.Spend more time riding my new bike(Africa twin) as i'm really starting to love this bike after a shaky start.
4."The tough One" in Cambodia. I'll be amazed if I pull this one off with work and family but i'd love a go.

I’ve not got much for this year as did loads last year, so just more of the same

Lots of Offroad stuff and complete a few Enduro races
NW200 trip
Do a few more short circuit races
Get my National licence
A couple of Euro trackdays
Not buy any more bikes.

Do a track day at Donington, a year without is too long.
Get out on the MX bike.
Ride more during the summer.
More laps of the TT when I'm there.

Very much the same as 2017:

1. Do the Old Gits trip to Provence in June;
2. Survive another year commuting into London;
3. Get my 1984 BMW R100CS back on the road;

and an extra one:

4. Decide what bike will replace my K1300S. This will be a real challenge as there is very little out there that interests me.

Preparations for a bikey 2018 started a few weeks ago for me by giving the old girl a thorough service, sending the suspension off to MCT and having a ride to Magny Cours for the WSBK.

Plans over the winter and into summer 2018 include: -

Bike

De-restricted airboot and bigger ducts (done)
Modified airbox
New EPROM chip to make the most of the above (done)
TB balance and dyno set-up
Radial master cylinders
Adjustable rearsets
520 chain / sprocket conversion
BSD or similar fancy race-style switchgear
Snazzy dash

Whatever doesn't get done from that list, I reserve the right to roll these over to next year...

Riding

At least 2 trackdays, preferably 2 at Snetterton (local) and one other / new track
One Euro trip to watch MotoGP or WSBK
Any other riding will be an improvement on the last 2yrs

Bonus

I don't know where I'm getting the money but I'd like to get myself a CR250 to rebuild / restore / hurt myself on.

Must Do

1. Tart the track bike up to race proper.
2. 2000 miles min on the 4 bikes.
3. Finally do a Euro trackday.
4. Fall off, I managed a year without it, I'm due a couple.
5. Do a season in Scottish championship, goal, 1 point.
6. Do at least one endurance race down south.
7. Attend wheelie school with prolapse like we said we would.
8. Ride around the highlands, not just the usual roads.
9. Ride to engerland again.
10. Visit a new track in the UK
11. Get track training.

Stretch Goals

12. Sell my Fireblade if I don't do 2.
13. Buy a motorcross thingy, (hinges upon moving to a house with a garage).
14. Quit smoking Try to get fitter if I'm going to be racing.
15. Complete the IAM course just for something to do, become an instructor, buy a GS, develop a taste for animal porn and Jeremy Vine.
16. Ride in Europe.
17. Not buy another bike.

fk, just realised I'd fk 17 if I do 13 and vise versa.

1: Try and keep a bike for 6 months
2: Do a highland tour
3: Do a couple of TD's
4: Not fall off
5: Sell the Uglybusa and buy a bike more suitable for the odd TD
6: Try and find some local biking friends as I'm sick of going out on my own

Nothing exciting really for next year for me, had a pretty average 2017 biking wise.

Main thing for me is to sort out my race calendar a bit better this year. The aim is to do more of the Irish roads again, along with Oliver's Mount, Ulster Grand Prix and maybe the Southern 100. Added to the list is to keep my eyes peeled for a new race bike, mind you, my current one is a weapon, makes good power and has been superbly reliable.....so may just stick with it.

Seen as I missed most of this years season due to binning the bike in July, I will be rebuilding it over winter.

Then next year;

1. Ride the bike as much as I can
2. 2 day tour in Wales or Scottish Highlands
3. Do a BMW/Yamaha offroad course back end of the year.

1 & 2 are dependent on me actually finding the time to put the bike back together.

Agree with MTB. Rather than a bucket list, I think it's more as a group of people vaguely sharing a pastime, we're just curious about what others are actually getting up to, and as most of us hang up our leathers for winter, we do tend to plan for the next year. Especially given the financial and time burdens.

That said I'm similarly happy to enjoy motorcycling, breathing, voiding fluids at various intervals, and converting chemical energy into sarcasm. As much as I can.

I think I said it more eloquently though.

Was there a need for a full stop after sarcasm.
