I want to set up a BACS / Faster Payment on my Barclays account. Its a new account I opened a few months ago.

When I press "make a payment" I get the following error...

9802 - Sorry - you do not have any accounts from which we can set up a payment.

WTF is that all about?! Anyone know? I have looked on google and Barclays help and I am pressing the right things its just not letting me do it.

Any help appreciated!

What did Barclays say when you rang them up to ask them about the problem with their system?

If anyone else gets this its because you need to take ID into branch to set up the account fully. They don't tell you this when you open your account nor do branch mention this either, given I have been in about 10-15 times in the last few months. So will go off today and they will activate it... sigh.

Well, this turned into a ball of sh**!

The bank that is local to me cant take my ID because they are not trained to do it.

So I have to take my ID to another branch, so off I go.... 45 minutes later get to the branch to be told its by appointment only. Next appointment is 4 weeks away as they are so busy! (God knows why) Its a good job I don't need to use this account on a regular basis..

2 hours wasted frown

The really bad bit is I know its going to be a case of "whilst we are checking your ID would you be interested in..... mortgages, insurance, credit cards" etc etc.... FFS.
