Just a general question for everyday folk out there (rather than the folk on the money / finance sub forums)

Is it me or is everyone talking about bitcoins but no one seems to be getting involved

Out of my largish circle of connections I don't think I know anyone involved

Any friends of friends involved?

It's difficult to know. I know people who have relatively small holdings bought recently (i.e. <= 1 coin), so at most < $11k, $9.9k, $9.7k, $9.1k worth.

However, for those that bought hundreds in the early days, I guess they're generally keeping quiet for obvious reasons!

Yup, cousin thought she’d jump on the bandwagon and put £8k of savings into it - just before it dropped like a stone. After fees for withdrawal etc, think she lost about half.

It’s not for the weak of heart or thick of head. You need (in my opinion) to make a buy that is significant enough to register elsewhere that you are someone wealthy and therefore know what you are doing. Therefore everyone else must be missing the boat and must jump in to it and push up the price. Until you sell and it plummets so everyone bails out and you buy it back cheaper again. Very few people have the cash or cajonès to do it! (That’s my cynical view, anyway!!)
