As part of refurb I am changing the trim colour to grey which will leave the cream coloured gauge faces looking not quite right.

Have been told that getting the gauge faces replaced by caerbont will take forever so is this a diy job and if so where would I get some white or black faces?

Is there any one else who would do this quicker?

Help required - I'm sure I have seen all sorts of colours but don't have a clue where they come from or if it is possible for a reasonably handy amateur to do this.

Would like to hear from anyone who has done this as I quite fancy the job but do not want to wreck the gauges.

Any pointers would be much appreciated.

Quite possibly something Speedy Cables could undertake for you ...... but rumour has it they are anything but speedy wink

Same company as Caerbont that the OP refers to, so probably the same amount of time. In fact, when I last Caerbont for something they recommended I sent it to Speedy cables.

Taking the instruments out of the dashboard isn’t too bad a job. I expect taking the faces out and repainting them is a bit more specialised.

Had you thought about a set of second hand instruments?

Yes, Speedy/Caerbont are as suggested anything but speedy.

Nothing really wrong with the gauges except that I would like to get a proper white or black face to go with the 2 tone grey that I think will be final choice for the re-trim.

Suppose I could pick up a non working speedo to experiment on.

Just need a source for new faces and the confidence to start taking things apart! Also got to find a way to get the air/fuel gauge to look like the rest.

Mine too. Interior trim is mostly Portland Grey with darker grey door trims and dash top, and grey carpets. Dials are the cream Caerbont ones. Looks good to me.

The dials are in a metal dash though.

I've posted this pic before.

Looks like the answer is to do the re-trim and have a look. It seems that they should look OK so will give it a try.

Many thanks

Looks good so seems problem solved as very similar to the colours I am going for. Even a red car!
