Mixing winter tyres with non-winter tyres
Discussion
I have a gut feeling I know what the answer to this might be, but thought I'd ask.
Almost time for the winter wheels to go on and after getting them out the shed I've noticed that only two of the tyres need replacing. They currently have some Goodyear Eagle F1's on them and two of them still have a good 6-7mm tread on them.
Am I best to just get another pair of GY's and put them on the front, or would there be any benefit to getting a pair of winter tyres and running them upfront and the GY's on the rear (FWD car)?
Go easy on me…

Seems that quite a few Frenchies just over the border from here (Switzerland) do exactly this, as they are too tight to buy 4 tyres. Admittedly, we tend not to get too much snow here in the winter, but the YouTube video just posted is quite alarming!
I love my winter tyres by the way; incredible how effective they are once the temperatures drop (and the are not a nightmare deathtrap when used in warmer conditions either...
