Glad I was looking for information on Revolut. I have a account with them and wanted to send funds to my brother in Australia. The amount I wanted to send they wont allow so sent it via my bank. He lost out on near 300 AUD but I didnt feel comfortable sending it via them. I will stick to using it for small amounts when i am in Europe.

Kid of a dodgy Russian borrows money from a dodgy Russian, gets the dodgy Russian back door banking license from Lithuania. The regulator can’t be surprised that the company doesn’t do what all Russian companies do. smile

I’m in Texas at the moment. The Revolut card works well everywhere except petrol/gas stations. I tell the machine it’s a debit card, input the pin but nothing?

Shame, buying petrol in the USA is still a pain.

US petrol stations are a pain. You rent a car and it never crosses your mind to ask how big the fuel tank is and so begins the random guessing of the pre-purchase.

I was mildly amused by the look on the face of an American tourist when he walked into our village petrol station to pay and learned that he was trusted to fill his car up first.

On a separate note, CFO gone.

But it’s interesting that the company is now attracting scrutiny over its rapid growth using the tried and tested practices of lax compliance and exploitation of young workers.

I would still warn people to use the product for its convenience with small transactions but that it’s no place for any relevant sums of money to be exposed to.

I’m in the USA at the moment and wondered if I could in future (I don’t need cash $’s right now) draw cash from the ATM using Revolut?

I started the transaction at an ATM thinking I’ll just draw say $20 to see if it works but there was a fee from the bank so I didn’t proceed.

Should work ok. the local ATM owner may charge a fee and I think revolut only allow £200 ish in free withdrawals per month on the standard product.

Revolut was down for maintenance earlier today. I still have purchases showing as pending since 14 March as does Mrs BC.

Anyone else?

I was in Germany last week and withdrew over 200 from my card. The fee was like £1.20 for 400 euros with drawn.

I also did the same with my debit card as I left my revolut card in my room like a idiot - £300 withdrawal = around £15 charges sod that wont do that again.
