I have been watching for quite a few months on AT and PH with email updates. 997.2s. Seem to be very little moving. Dealers dropping some prices and little new stock coming on.

Any ideas?

Just commented on another thread that JZM reduced a 997.2 today. People always say the right cars at the right price sell quickly....think they’re the only cars selling right now. Slightly iffy spec or greedy pricing and its just not happening! That’s every model though not just 997’s. Market is tough for new and used cars.

Thank you. Just noted that my original post didn’t read very well thanks to typing on an iPhone .. the spec is part of the challenge I think. So many 997s are safe colours and yet there is little to differentiate these ones come resell time. I’m also trying to see what mileage they become even harder to sell. A lot of 997.2s hovering around 50-60k but no more..

I've been watching 997.2 C2S market for almost 3 years... its been the exact same the entire time. Usually less than 10 cars for sale at any one time. They all do sell though, it's just a very considered market and these cars aren't churned as much anymore and people holding onto them. Don't expect it to drop anytime soon.

Ranges from £35k to £50k dependent upon the obvious. If you find a good one relative to your price point, buy it, because chances of seeing another are rare.

PDK's have a lot more choice, lower prices and usually better spec.

Thanks Woollyjoe! Appreciate the insight. The prices are creeping a little at the 45-47 grand mark where stock has been sitting for a while.

A bit of me is thinking to buy a 40k mile car and sell at 60 rather than buy a 60 and get no interest at 75k miles when others are available and the supply is short.. maybe overthinking!

I’m awaiting something ‘different’ as I was this 997 to be a special

Well don't consider for too long because your life isn't a rehearsal and we are only here once. Each day you're considering is another day you weren't enjoying driving the car. :-)

And that's why the whole market just sits there, waiting for something that may never come. So you're either very patient and have to wait for years, or you live for today!

You only live once so go for it
I’ve been thinking about swapping my TVR Tamora for a 997 gts for about a year now so I decided last week to go for it as I’m not getting any younger
So I got a 997 gts from 911 virgin yesterday
It was hard to see the Tamora go but the gts is a better car all round apart from the sound

Thank you all for the encouragement! I agree, but do want to feel excited about my first 911 and the colour is a key part of that.

I’m considering keeping my 58 plate 635D in almost perfect condition as WBAC offered me less than 6k. Bonkers. Not fun to hustle around, but a motorway/distance monster especially with my remap.

The search continues!

Ps love your GTS very nice. Just feel these are a little hot in value right now compared to a well specced 997.2. TVRs are what got me into PH over 15yrs ago.. was obsessed with a Griffith.. still love that noise

Lovely looking GTS!

Bought my 1st Porsche (also a 997 GTS) from Tom at 911V and since bought others and sold to him too - great operation.

I agree about the GTS sound which is why I fitted a Sharkwerks exhaust bypass pipe to mine as soon as I got it and since then we've sold well over 60 in the UK! With the PSE valves open it will sound great - almost 997 GT3 like. PM me for more info.

Enjoy the GTS, Chris

Agree good sub 30k miles c2 s Manual always sell if under £50k

I gave up after a year of looking I only saw one in Scotland and missed that due to wanting a lotus.

Very rare cars to buy, people seem to keep them.

That 635d part x price/sell price is also holding back the market making it really hard to justify the change - OR you keep it and then have the added costs and hassle of 2 cars for 1 person.

Right now we’re looking 31/10/19 which is laced with total unknowns. Totally understandable people are not spending on luxuries - same story with holidays too (TUI and Thomas Cook on their arse).
Houses dried up but you must live somewhere and that market is now moving again.

I guess anyone hoping for good resale of their P&J might have their chips pissed on - though if they are buying another then the step up the ladder will be smaller ...

Cheers Welshbeef... At less than 6k I would keep them both and not put my 997 through the daily.. I would rather sell it and only have one set of car costs, but I will not sell if that means a p1ss take price.. I just spent 2k+ on wheel and brake refurb, AC recharge and sensor repair, BMW service etc..

I know it’s not a 997, but I was looking at a 930 Turbo that’s up for a ridiculous amount of money its been siting there for nearly a year - I have no idea why dealers do this, really odd. (Car is POA and dealer owned) smile

Be picky on spec and the choice will be limited.

I spent a while looking at options thinking they were all priced too high. Then decided you only live once and bought a higher miles C4S PDK (how undesirable can you get smile) a year ago.

Wasn't looking at manuals so couldn't really comment on comparative prices with PDKs. I like the PDK transmission a lot, but Chrono Plus is needed and needs to be in "Plus" to get the most from it on a spirited drive.

Personally I couldn't see the extra in a GTS at the time and am still not sure it's there. At least 15k IIRC, some a good chunk more. Nice cars with a nice spec but not that sort of difference.

Not driven a 991 (yet). Wasn't really up for spending what they were selling for and look much more "GT" to me - the 997 has a raw edge I like. Will try one eventually but for now am enjoying the 997.

Thanks Murph7355! I agree with you on the pricing for the GTS model (which one dealer said to me was not where he would spend his own money).. When you say higher mileage car - 70k+? Thanks for the pointer on Chrono Plus.. Will keep checking that.. For me colour is very important and so is PSE.. I really want options on the exhaust.. I am flexible swapping some parts like paddle steering wheel etc.. I do rather than an urge for a ducktail.. I was at Bicester Heritage recently at the Petrolicious event and drooled over the dark green CSR Porsche - it was gorgeous

72k. Now on 81k smile

Mine's Aqua blue. The ad photos didn't do it justice even remotely. It's an awesome colour. Was convinced to go and take a look by a poster on 911uk.com (phil997). After a number of months searching I became more open on colour and very glad I did smile

Interior on mine is ocean blue - don't let that put you off either. It looks more grey in most lights and works well.

There were a number of options I wanted that a lot of cars didn't have - paddleshift wheel (1k to add after if a car doesn't have it), PSE (aftermarket exhausts available but the PSE is good), heated seats, chrono plus etc etc.

This car is a toe in the water with 911s. I've always preferred Italian/Bitish cars generally as thought of Porsches as a bit anodyne...a bit "Audi +" rather than "supercar -" etc. But it's a cracking car. Very deceptive speedwise (as in it feels you're going slower than you are - not ideal smile). As a toe in the water exercise paying a considerable premium for "low miles" (on a 7+ yr old car) wasn't for me. And thus far, so far so good.

Thanks Murph7355.... I love blue! One of the colours I have been looking for.. I appear to have lost 2hrs looking at duck tail options for 997s 😮 crazy.. I spotted a silver car advertised today that has cocoa leather and full Moshammer Aerokit with the ducktail. Not quite my spec, but the first retail car I have seen with mods to this degree.
