UPDATE

Just come off the phone to the receiving pot and now it seems the receiving pot need Utmost to send them the fund transfer value before they will send out the info Utmost want!! This is just getting silly.

I asked the lady from the receiving pot if she could call Utmost and cut out the middle man and was told she can't because of GDPR.

Just what do these people do for their fees?

I may just shop around for a new company altogether. I've missed the chance to acquire some "cheaper" units now anyway

Ean - When I started the process back in March, I spoke to the receiving company who just asked me to fill out a few of their forms and they said they would do the rest. They are the experts, not me.

It sounds as if it's the receiving pot (your language) that has dropped the ball and not Utmost on this occasion. Further, you appear to have incurred potential price disadvantage as a result. Are you using as adviser to handle the process for you? If so, you would have grounds for a complaint and a potential route to redress. I cannot comment on the position if you are doing this XO.

Not using IFA.

Following a call to receiving pot in late Feb they told me all I needed to do was fill out a form. They'd send it to Utmost and take it from there.

Trying to talk to Utmost on the phone is hopeless.

I'm now just hoping Utmost don't automatically take my cash pot and buy units with it as the 6 month deadline is fast approaching.

Where was it going to from Utmost? (so we know who to avoid).

Aviva are transferring a pension of mine this week after the request was put in last week ... that’s good service.

Lifesight - Willis Towers Watson.

It's my old Carilion pension pot. When they went pop the funds got transferred.

Aviva money is now in there - good service! Proves it can be done with a co-operative provider.

UPDATE

Had an email from Lifesight (recieving pot) telling me that that they had just sent the required info to Utmost.

TWO WEEKS to send an email!

I feel and FCA complaint coming on.

Just had an email from them asking for a copy of either my passport or my driving licence as they don't have anything on file.

A copy is fine, but it has to be sent by actual post, it cannot be sent by email.

Makes absolutely zero sense to me - how can they have a system where a copy is acceptable, but an email of the copy is not. If I were cynical, I would suggest that it's just a mechanism to slow the process down.

FINAL UPDATE.

Received a letter this morning from Utmost informing me they had made the transfer on 1 July.

Not showing on my receiving account yet though.

Can't believe it's taken since mid-March to achieve this. Covid or no Covid.

Dismal.

They’ve made a great effort to delay the process as long as they could do, which isn’t surprising.

Now it’s all done though, put it to good use.

Sent them a copy of my passport, by post as requested, 3 weeks ago. Heard nothing yet.

Phoned them yesterday to chase - at 4:20pm. "Due to Covid" they close at 4:00pm.

Phoned them this morning to chase - at 9:20am. "Lines are closed due to staff training"

Words fail me.

MAYBE NOT THE FINAL UPDATE!

Despite Utmost writing to me to inform me the transfer was made on 1 July, I have just had an email from Lifesight (receiving pot) telling me they are chasing Utmost and if the don't get a reply by 21 July they will (wait for it) "chase them again"

They really are useless aren't they.

I will not be leaving my money with them.

In my experience Utmost are telling you the truth, your problem is actually with Lifesight. I bet they have received the money but haven't actually got around to allocating it to your account and the email you have received was auto-generated.

If Lifesight are going to wait another 2 weeks before chasing again they really are useless.

Right, this is it - Final Update.

Yesterday (14 July) I checked my account on-line and the funds are actually there.

That was quick.
