More houses get built = more revenue to council coffers by tax payers
= more people that the council has to provide services to
+ aging population meaning more going into social care etc

I reckon price is a result of the balance between supply and demand. If it doesn't sell, it is overpriced. And if it remains overpriced in that sense, it is not really on the market.

Train Fares.
This x 100000.

It costs my wife £16 return to do around 12 miles on the train. It's never on time, it's not faster, and it's not convenient. Rolling stock is old. How on Earth can you justify a £16 ticket?

On the bus it's like £5-6 return, and driving uses £4-5 of fuel.

Yet sometimes you go on Trainline site and it's stupidly cheap. I went from Waterloo to Dorchester and back for £14 last year.
