Not sure that I’m with you on the restaurant prices, I prefer to eat in good restaurants, with crisp white linen, good food and good service.
I’m happy to pay £80 - £100 for a couple of cocktails, dinner, wine, coffee and liqueurs for two in a good chav free restaurant, if I couldn’t run to that I’d stay home and knock up grilled sea bass with haricots vert and a bottle or two of Viognier.
I'd be happy to pay that for what you describe as well - only its seems that its going to cost nearer to £130-£150 for that!I’m happy to pay £80 - £100 for a couple of cocktails, dinner, wine, coffee and liqueurs for two in a good chav free restaurant, if I couldn’t run to that I’d stay home and knock up grilled sea bass with haricots vert and a bottle or two of Viognier.
Is it just me or has the price of eating out (even at pub level) gone through the roof in the last couple of years?
Seems to be 15-17 quid just for a burger & chips is the going rate round here now. A simple meal & couple of drinks in the pub runs to the wrong side of 50 quid these days.
Spare parts for domestic appliances, fixing a knob on my oven recently I took it off and a small little spring came off and I couldn't find it, I thought max may be a few quid for another but no it was £9.49 plus postage couldn't cost more than a few pence to make. While looking on the spare parts site I also noted they had a small 2cm long screw for the grand price of £8.99 for 1.

Life’s too short to argue, I looked at a bill from Butlers Wharf Chop House about 3 weeks back, 2 Kir Royales - £24, 2 set menus of 2 courses - £40, bottle of wine - £34, 2 coffees - £10, no liqueurs, £108, plus 12.5% service, £121.50, so I concede that you were closer than my stab in the dark, had we had liqueurs, then you’d have been bang on the money
They saw you coming, but then you did go to a tourist trap£5 for a coffee is just a joke. Even Wiltons charges less than that.
Viagra. Had to take some for a few months due to a lasting injury.
Even the non brand Sildenafil was something like £28 for 4 tablets! Feel bad for the folks who cant function without it.
I think the price might be lower now that its over the counter.
£10 for 4 100mg tablets online. So £2.50 a shag, not too bad

That sounds very cheap. Are you sure they weren't past their swell buy date? Even the non brand Sildenafil was something like £28 for 4 tablets! Feel bad for the folks who cant function without it.

You’re right about Wiltons though, I had a smoked salmon omelette in there not long ago, and a double espresso was less than a fiver, but Mrs 7 had a Bellini, at £15.50.
C’est la vie, you’re a long time dead.

Trivial cost compared to the total price (directly and indirectly) of the female involved.......Even the non brand Sildenafil was something like £28 for 4 tablets! Feel bad for the folks who cant function without it.

Was it your own joke ? I no then I take back all my flock of Partridges ....
It sounds obvious, but main dealer service pricing.
Nigh on 200 quid to do an oil change is just ridiculous.
I get that you're paying for the bling around it, but I don't want leather chairs, an espresso machine and free wifi.
I just want to drop my car off, have it serviced efficiently and cheaply, then collect it.
It seems to be one of those things that they've massively over-complicated (likely at customer demand) and, as a result, it's massively over-priced.

A kitchen.
Want some MDF chipboard internals? A we bit if wood on the door?
Your life please.
We had this recently, my wife got a quote from a bespoke kitchen builder so the bloke comes around to give us a quote.Want some MDF chipboard internals? A we bit if wood on the door?

Half way through it seems she was thinking £15k and he was thinking £25k
When he left a classic from the Mrs "I wonder if Kevin could do it" Keven is out oddjob man who is handy and can do anything. He could probably do it for £5k and still have enough left over for a slap up fish and chip supper. His kitchen is probably fooking amazing....
I sometimes think my wife wishes she had married him rather than me. I'm still struggling with a toilet seat that keeps coming loose.

HOUSES !!!..........I can't believe nobody has said houses, probably the largest purchase any of us make, and the one that soaks up the most of our disposable income.
So, that does not mean that they are overpriced. It's what the market prescribes. Maybe other PHers realise this hence the reason why house prices has not been mentioned before.R.
