Ha.

Did you ever buy into COPL? Mentioned it a few times and you're usually the lucky fker that picks out the ones that do well.
Unfortunately not, looks like I missed a good opportunity!

I'm not sure you are in the right thread when "only" your 5th largest holding results in TR-1s showing 8%+ stakes hehe At what point do you request a seat on the board?

I suppose it is called "What's your big gamble?" though,
smile requesting a seat on the board sounds like I’d have to do some work... for that reason, I’m oot! smile

Considering my top 4 shares were down quite heavily, I’m surprised that overall I’m up - albeit just..

Good to see SHI doing something toda, up 6% - EasyJet also up about 6%. Our 2nd favourite newsagent is up almost 6% - our favourite up almost 4%..

NRR up 7% - have almost sold that pup quite a few times... still down overall on this one.

FUMble UP almost 7%, hopefully it can contain the excitement and continue to rise to the occasion...

The AA was my top performer - decent rise from that which will hopefully continue over the next few sessions..

Could have been a worse day!

Who still holds Capita?

The Times today has them as a buy, thinking being that they’ve been oversold.

Their results are late and now due out this month - hopefully the delay is as a result of them selling their software business for a great price and they’ve needed longer to count all the money.... ok, more likely it’s because of bad news but I can dream..

They are my 4th largest holding - was largest or 2nd largest at one point - that fact alone is probably enough to get me committed...

However, it definitely fits with the ethos of this thread - I got in at a decent (I think) price and the stock is up 6% from there. It was another where I thought I could lose the investment, or make a multiple on it.

I know the business well... despite this thought it was worth a punt - I’ll be kind and say there is lots of room to improve.. smile

The Times thought that all bad news had been priced in - one fund has been building a stake and has recently gone over 15%.

It could be an interesting couple of weeks - not sure when the results will get published..

Trading at 35p - 52 week high is 182p - 52 week low is 19p.

My first green day in ages.... +3.15% percent up across my shares today.

RPS was looking good but closed down. BAB was BAB with extra BAB. AA has been my main gain today. Glad to see BP, RDSB and AAF regaining lost ground.
Nice result buddy - not seen a 3% rise for a long time!

Reasonably good day for me as well - NRR (7%), NEX (7.6%), HEMO & IPF both about 3.5%, everything else black except for small drops on GGP and RPS.
Sounds like a great day! What’s black? Up I assume?

That reminds me, I do. They sort of have dropped off my radar as my Google Finance portfolio doesn't seem to want to include them in the list. I have buys and sells at different points since 21 April. I think I was doing quite well trading them until a FOMO buy 24 June @46.94p ! It'd be good to see a rise back into the mid 40s at least.
Ah... June.... happier times! I was definitely starting to love Capita around then... seems a long time ago..

500 miles - been watching crapita for some time. My experience of it was a badly run company that got addicted to sucking on the government / taxpayer teet but still managed to get epically in debt thanks to chasing revenue.

Eclipse was a pile of crap and that got sold

SIMS on the education side now has lots of competitors and is a PITA so selling it off is likely the right thing to do.

However I am not sure what is left. Education and legal we’re both profitable. They are selling off the family silver, as tarnished as it is starves the business of what was allowing it to at least service its debt. They tried to start a compliance consultancy division but everything from the website through to its market reach seemed a bit ham fisted and not that successful (why go to capita when KPMG has at least experience on its side?)

As a gamble it is huge imho - I have it as a day trade watch only and more out of morbid curiosity. For the long term it depends how long is long? It may do a IBM and totally transform itself into a half decent company but it up there with Nigerian mining companies on my risk radar.

Fortune favours the brave and you seem more successful than me so who knows?

Meanwhile - apart from BOO I have had a day of green. Need a few more of these.
I don’t disagree with any of that smile Awful company with a weak mid level management team and low morale across the rest of the team..

However, I think there is more value than the market has priced in and I’m hoping that we see some decent upside - will it get back to its 5 year high of 1200? God no... but if it hits 60, 90 or 100p that would be a very decent profit. It was at those levels only a few months ago..

Who knows... could go to zero... time will tell

I did manage to sell some at 51.23 (target was 59 at the time) & buy some at 33.06 so using my 'Holistic (tm)' accounting, my overall average for these means I'm still 25% up on my current holding smile Basically I made 5 good trades and one bad one due to greed / fomo.

You're right though, the sentiment in June was very different.

On a different topic, CINE doesn't seem to have been mentioned on this thread the last couple of days.

Futures showing green but only just - up 0.24%

I would be happy with a level day - reckon it’s more likely to be a down day...

Going to be driving for a lot of it but will have a read through when I stop - will also try and give our second favourite newsagent some money at the service stations... every little helps...

Everybody bought CINE vouchers for Breadvans birthday I hope?

Happy Birthday Breadvan - hope you have a good one. smile

Well that was an interesting day.

Up 2.47% overall - best day for a while.

Top 4 largest shares all up, Capita (4th) up by almost 7% - have been out of contact but couldn’t see anything driving this - must have been our discussions yesterday... shout if I missed anything please.

The AA with news of a potential takeover at between 40p and 50p did the only logical thing... went down by just less than 1%. Probably just holding out to stagger the good news...

Good gains on RBG (2nd) and BooHoo (3rd) - looks like Boo will hopefully just rise reasonably steadily until they deliver their next update - could then spike... hopefully... RBG I’m considering upping my stake... obviously risky with fear of 2nd lockdown.. upside is significant if they can pull it off.. might get a discount on vodka shots so that could work out financially..

Tullow Oil and Menzies up almost 10%..

Gym had a good day, it’s been sliding recently so good to see a change in direction.

Superdry up by 11% and AML up by 7% - I’d be more surprised if these gains weren’t more than reversed tomorrow!

Mulberry and Dark Matter both up circa 10%.

FUM had another good day - up 24% overall on that. Who tipped FUM? Thank you smile

PDL, MPO and DDDD all down around 2%.

Don’t understand MPO as their net asset value is about 4 times its market cap - if anyone knows how that works let me know. I understand a discount but not at those levels..

So... AA the only one with a takeover offer and one of the only ones that went down.. obviously the market doesn’t have much faith in a takeover being successful. If equity gets wiped out it would be a blow - up 47% at the moment but have fomo/I’m greedy and looking for a much higher return..

Looks like a few of you guys have had even better days - hope it continues tomorrow.

Futures were looking green when I checked earlier.

A BBC article about cinemas - https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/entertainment-arts-5366...

"Last weekend's box office takings were just 3% of the total on the same weekend last year."
It's not all bad then...
Just think of next years headline - Box office takings have increased by 2 million percent compared with the same week last year smile obviously haven’t done the maths..

Bit of a meh day so far - few decent increases (SKIN up circa 10% - CEO doing a positive blog later, hopefully the hype doesn’t turn into a damp squid. Boo, Gym, Aviva, eqt and Avacta up circa 4%.) IDP, Deep Matter, the newsagents, Capita, pmo and AA all down between 2 & 4%.

IDP down just over 3% but impossible to buy any volume of shares.

The rest are slightly up or down - not too bad after yesterday’s rises.

Ah.. assume you mean overall - you timed that right smile I was too early and down 33% overall! Bought when didn’t think they could drop anymore..

Not entirely sure why I bought this one - an org that does conferences isn’t a good bet in a pandemic inflicted world! Most of my shares I can justify to myself, not this one smile
