Julian, the car looks amazing, but the steering wheel is on the wrong side (more time in Portugal I wonder?), a very quick Google search led me straight to what must be the car you just purchased, the 165 photo's took some time to go through, very nice indeed.

With regard to IML I have my modest sum spread across OGG,PHE, PHO and PHT, in no particular ratios, just what felt right at the time, so basically a guess. I also have a similar sum in Nest Sharia which historically has performed very well, but like everything is up and down like a yo yo at the moment.

I'm hoping to retire in six years, although the way things are at the moment that's not looking likely, I have the option to work longer (I won't be at state retirement for some years), take a less stressful job (minimum wage is slowly catching up with my wages!!!), and also the option to down size the house.

So I need my money to work as hard as possible to realise that early retirement with utilising the above options, in theory would IML do this, rather than start moving it to safer investments, as I only have six years to my target retirement?

Presumably because I've not really got a glue what I'm doing IML should work better for me as well?

I'd just like to echo the way you have a full grasp of the big picture (inside and outside IM) and present it all in a balanced and clear way to people like us, who whilst having a decent number of brain cells know relatively little. Yes the super-fine detail is missing but that's a distraction, as we've seen here.

I would also like to congratulate you on finally choosing a car with the same badge and body colour as mine, albeit four cylinders short smile
Thanks John, that is a very nice thing to say (your cheque will be in the post! wink).

We have a good double act now. Adam does the detail (incredibly well) and I do the layman's version!

So whilst Adam is undoubtedly Wise, I am very happy jst being Morecambe...

Thanks also on the car, but I think you will find I beat you to the badge with my previous DB9 - remember, the one you borrowed once?!!!

Great colour though, I completely agree!

Cheers!

Hi Ron-ski

I've stuck up some pics to save anyone else interested having to search (yes, there were a lot of pics there!), but as you know it was with Collecting Cars and my mate who ones Broadoak bought it for me and has just had it serviced etc. It is coming to me on Monday so I am seriously looking forward to some driving next weekend!

On a side note, I would really recommend Dan and Broadoak International to anyone wanting to nice metal of the highest quality...

What you have done with you investments is just what IML (oh, just thought, that is rather like AML!) does. You have used trackers as the foundation/core and then added stock picking to this. So I would suggest this says you are very much already doing a good job of things!

The NEST Sharia fund was for a long time their best performing one. I don't quite know why, but it was pretty consistent at it too. The otheres were pretty dire if I recal correctly, but this one shone!

IML would certainly do what you are looking for, and do it on auto-pilot as far as your involvement was concerned. Having said that, your current arrangements are already similar and our other portfolios do allow you to tailor this futher.

The main difference is just that with IML we do it for you and are more targeted with the stocks (this is because they don't need to sit in a portfolio with a specific mandate), and as things are you would do this yourself. There really is no magic ingredient added, only us ensuring that things are does as and when they need to be.

I think that given your timesclase and the potential changing natures of these it would be very well worth you sitting down and having a chat with Nik over all your options and to give you peace of mind you are indeed in the right place, or a nice and early nudge if you are not.

I hope this is helpful and just shout with anything else mate!

Cheers

Julian

I step away and I see Julian has portrayed me as a 5ft 4 comedian biggrin

On IML, one advantage is the remit is relatively unconstrained by sector or profile mandates, insofar as it really will be our best ideas across the market. If you look at PHE (recognised brands), PHT, pure tech and tech enablers. Whereas IML will contain what we believe to be 15-20 of the very best business across a wide range of sectors.

The last I heard was thanks to Steve H I don't seem to have one either!!!

Seriously though, I thought everyone had been contacted, as we are massively oversubscribed for some races this year. Check with Coops (steve.cooper@intelligentmoney.com) and let him know your username too, we will try and get you sorted!

Ah yes, the one sponsored by the local back injury clinic spin I had to jam a cheap fluffy cushion from The Range in the gap; hardly 007-esque...!

Didn’t you try the "don’t you know who I am" line? rofl

Sorry you couldn’t make it Julian but thanks for the passes, it’s about the only round that doesn’t clash with a race in the IM Racing Cayman so a good chance to get Mrs H to a race where someone else makes the sarnies and she doesn’t have to carry a pit board biggrin

So you reckon it was my Tungston Silver Aston Martin that detracted from your 007 image, not your soft furnishing additions...?

Haven't perused this thread in a while. Nice to read through and see what's going on in the background.
I'm guilty of logging in and checking investments once a week or so, the recent dive of course gives some doubts. (I know in reality this is just how it is and the team are on it) but good to see the information here confirming that too.

Regards IML. Sounds a great service though somewhat labour intensive unless you've managed to automate it somewhat.
I'm 19 years off retirement and just drip feeding a little each month across the 3 existing PH funds.
Am I going to see much benefit from IML? It may be more bespoke to me but being so far off that date I'm thinking it wouldn't be much different (bar the tracker bits) than just leaving it where it is.

Any advice information or guidance appreciated!
Thanks.
