Our 3 contract has roaming in 72 countries, 12Gb plan. 13:12/ month, just gone up by 1/month; Works a treat
Same as mine but if you get new 3 contract the roaming costs 2 per day. Check out their web site.
Thanks for the heads up, best keep this one running then..

You may get an email from 3 at some point saying that theirs t&c’s allow them to change your existing contract to charge for roaming. Happened to my wife, she moved to o2.

——

Important message about your contract
We're writing to you about your current 1-month rolling SIM Only plan. Right now, your plan has a monthly allowance of 30GB of data, Unlimited minutes and Unlimited texts.

From time to time, we have to update our plans. As the minimum term of your contract has now ended, we can no longer offer you this plan on your current terms. Please treat this letter as our notice to you of our intention to vary your contract with us in accordance with clause 4.2 of our Terms & Conditions. You can find the terms at three.co.uk/terms.

Your options
Based on your current plan, you're eligible for the plans showing below. Just go online to www.three.co.uk and choose one of these plans in the next 30 days. These are only available as a new contract option for your account with the mobile number ending 986.
1-Month
SIM-only Plan
30GB data
Unlimited mins
Unlimited texts
£21 per month†

12-Months
SIM-only Plan
100GB data
Unlimited mins
Unlimited texts
£15 per month†

24-Months
SIM-only Plan
100GB data
Unlimited mins
Unlimited texts
£14 per month†
What happens next?
All you need to do is choose your exclusive new SIM only plan in the next 30 days. If we don't hear from you, you'll automatically move to our 30GB data 1-month SIM Only plan on 10/05/2022. This plan will be on our latest Terms & Conditions, which apply from 1st October and include a daily charge to use Go Roam*. Terms & Conditions available at three.co.uk/terms.

There won't be any interruption to your current service if you do move your plan, and you can still use your device. Unfortunately, we can't move any existing Add-ons onto your new plan. If you've got an Add-on live on the date we move you over, it'll be removed, but we'll credit your account with the cost of that Add-on.
Your choice of new plan
If you don't fancy moving to our 1-month SIM Only plan or choosing another option, you're free to leave with no cancellation fee. But we'd hate to see you go. You'll just need to tell us that you'd prefer your account to be closed within 1 month of receiving this email. After that, you can cancel it at any time by giving us 30 days' notice. Other options are also available at three.co.uk.

Quite the opposite for me. Retired at 50 and and I am quite a lot greener / healthier / happier than when I was while still working.

It's entirely possible to go for a long brisk walk while retired. I'm fact I do that most days!
Same here. I retired at 48 and I shall be 60 next year. I hate to think what state I would have been in had I stayed at work. The combination of a toxic work environment and a high-ish salary meant that I spent every evening in restaurants, eating rich foods and drinking at a level I would be embarrassed to admit. It was just our way of winding down but it was very unhealthy.

I’ve lost a quarter of my body weight since retirement, dramatically cut down the drink and take regular exercise. I know I could have made better life choices when I was working but I hated my job and self-destruction was an enjoyable (albeit shallow) relief from that.

I’ve never been happier nowadays but I do envy those who actually enjoy their work. I never had that experience.

I take a week to go cycling & come back to lengthy discussions about mobile roaming charges: that doesn't sound so much like enjoying retirement as enduring it! FYI, my iD Mobile plan doesn't (yet?) charge roaming fees.....

Happy Birthday, OP - looks like a fabulous break!

Back on track....safe to say I am enjoying a rest after pedalling 360 miles and almost 19,000ft ascent during our trip.
Pal had a puncture, my chain snapped (thank goodness I took spare links to fix!) & then, worst of all, he ended up crashing and breaking his arm.
In hospital now, will have some surgery next week.
Cycling is dangerous, people!
It put something of a downer on the last couple of days (more so for him), but these things happen.....question is how fast we mend as we age....

Jubilee weekend to endure (any crazy plans here?), then the IOW for festival fun.

Aside from figuring out mobile plans, what is everyone else doing to enjoy retirement?!

Phil.

Doesn’t surprise me. If I get this I will move all our phones to O2. Let’s hope THREE are listening.

I second that but I do enjoy parts of my job. It just depends which job I’m doing at the time.

Well, I'm almost there. Anticipating packing up my job by the end of July and looking forward to a new life where I determine what I'll be doing Monday to Friday. I'm 58 and have been in continuous employment since I was 22, with part time jobs for much of the 6 years prior to that.

Can't wait. I just need an end to the continuous stress of delivering every year in my current sales role.

Started a gym habit in January which I will definitely be building on, and have plenty of hobby activities to keep me out of mischief.

Same age as me. Well deserved. Having a gym habit is really positive as are hobbies. Enjoy smile

Thank you. Still feels rather surreal to be at this stage but I'm sure it'll be the new normal pretty quickly.

Just popped back in from the man cave as I am half way through building several indoor planters, when I get so far with them I am going to finish off turning a couple of fountain pens. Both pieces are what people I know have asked me to make for them. I will charge enough to cover my costs, so to me I am having someone else pay for my hobby.

Perfect .

The thing I like best about being at home is the ability to potter around and not keep checking the clock.

I always find the day flies that way

Well apart from posting on PH I've been working on a guitar I wanted to put together for months, but work got in the way. Sorted out some finance/bills stuff and ordered some parts for my son's car while I wait for the weather to improve so I can finish a job I started last week. Off out to solicitors this afternoon for some stuff relating to my MIL's estate/probate and also my Dad's probate.

It's been a packed 3 weeks since I finished work though I know it's not at all typical: Son's graduation ceremony after it was postponed for 2 years, immediately followed by a quick trip to Spain to sort out some legal stuff on my wife's appartment out there. Back home for a day and ended up going to a gig with friends, followed by a short break in Sussex, then back for the Jubilee weekend and street party.

I guess today is the first 'proper' day of retirement for me as it's now down to more regular things. Have to admit I've developed a slightly unhealthy habit of checking on my bank account too often: I'm living off savings for now while we sort out various investments/inheritance and late MIL flat sale as I only have a small ex-Navy pension coming in which barely covers my half of the (increased) bills. I've taken on a little repair job on another guitar for a friend and I also picked up a project guitar last week locally that just needs a clean up and setting up, so between that and some other guitar gear I plan to sell off will help top up the bank account...not strictly 'retired' I guess by some standards, but hardly what I'd consider hard work and I can pick it up whenever I feel like, such as when the weather isn't great. smile

Been to the gym this morning. A few DIY jobs to do, if I feel like it.

Helping my mother move into a new care home this week, and she’s a couple of hours away.

Have a short break booked next week to give the Yorkshire 3 Peaks hike ago. And was in the Cotswolds last Fri on a training walk which coincided with some of their Julbilee Celebrations which were nice to see.

Mainly, whatever else I feel like doing this week smile
