The roads have been washed of the salt from the last bout of rain and the sun is shining with dry tarmac.
It's time for motorcycling.. .bounce
Well.i had a great ride yesterday and met some friends at our biker cafe for a bit of a chin wag. One left early and 20 mins later we see an air ambulance fly low overhead.
Never thought anything of it until I got a message last night with the worst news. He died in a collision on his way home.
I won't give names or anything and yes its very sad but also a reminder to the rest of us that we don't know what tomorrow is going to bring. If you can retire and would like to retire, if you have that Bucket list of unfulfilled dreams and ambitions then maybe a little more living for today is in order.
Enjoy your weekend peeps, I shall make a deliberate effort to enjoy mine for the friends lost who can't.

Thank you all, I posted only as we all have a habit of putting off things and then suddenly sometimes it's just too late.
These things certainly make you think a bit.

Me too. Commiserations.

I lost a best mate to a bike accident right in front of me 4 days after his 17th.

So much potential and years snuffed out in a moment of teenage bravado. frown

I’ve mentioned a couple of times how four funerals in just over a year galvanised my plans. It is very much a wake up call to live your best life, starting now!

I don’t have a big “bucket list”, but did accelerate efforts to hop off the hamster wheel - despite enjoying my career, I knew there was more to life. Haven’t regretted a moment. Create moments to remember, for you and others.

Thanks everyone, ive woken this morning to beautiful blue skies so I'm pretty sure a nice ride out will be on this mornings agenda.
Some quiet reflection and an hour or two to enjoy something I love doing as I get back to enjoying retirement.
Following my recent birthday im reminded how I've now only got 9 years to my state pension, I await the results of my poo on a stick event courtesy of the NHS and I've now been called in for some additional blood tests tomorrow morning.
Funny I never really saw my retirement being like this.....or is this rhe bit the pension providers miss off their glossy slick cruise liner adverts encouraging us to save more as we all deserve a better tomorrow ......maybe I'm just a tad cynical. whistle
Anyway back to our normal productive and positive thread.

Enjoy your ride out later Longy; make the most of this early spring weather and blue skies. Hadn't realised we are the same age as I'm 9 years off my SP too as of last December.

A less exciting day for me as I need to load up my car while it's dry today, ready for a tip run tomorrow as it looks like rain in the morning. One step closer to actually starting my 'retirement project' over 10 months since I retired. biggrin

Argh yes the joys of a tip run. Many a blessed hour doing that and then usually having to clean the car out again afterwards

Who was the youngest to retire here?

Anyone done it in their 40s?
46 for me, just over 12 months ago.

I thought the days would pass a bit slower but time still flies. However, I have appreciated having more time to observe the seasons change and Mother Nature do her thing month to month. I still regard every day as an absolute blessing and the feeling of freedom has not yet begun to wane.

I am just starting to think about what to do with the rest of my life. I am considering maybe some automotive electrical courses and then seeing where that leads. I do know that I could never work full time in an office again.

Yes, still the case at mine, but I actually prefer that as it seems quicker and less queuing. Of course I can go during the week when it's quieter too, so I got it loaded up today all ready to go (in the expected rain) tomorrow afternoon. I've got a lot of cardboard from eBay parts deliveries for the Fiesta, so it's lined the boot of the Ka to save a lot of cleaning. I can actually open the bonnet of the RS now. biggrin

Nowhere to have a bonfire in our garden, not that the neighbours would be impressed, so I have little choice. Still it helps line the boot for me for the other stuff.
