I've recently sold the 993 into Europe and have taken payment in Euro's (Cash).

I now need to deposit in a bank and want to open a UK based euro account. I currently bank with HSBC but they want to charge me 1% cash handling fee n their euro account, which equates to quite a sum. Do I have to accept this or do any of you have experience of other UK banks with cheaper fees?

Any thoughts appreciated.

I went through something similar. Ditched HSBC due to the 1% handling fee and opened a Barclays account. They don't charge a handling fee nor the 4 Euro monthly account management fee.

Then open a forex account with UKForex. Transfer your Euros from Barclays to their acc. and convert when the rate is good. They will give you the best deal.

bit late to this question but i use Citibank.

I have a Sterling current account and several "savings" accounts in Euro, USD, SGD, AUD.

No charges and you can withdraw from any via the ATM.
