well, by the time we got out of bed, she'd gotten ready - i was still in the mindset of breakfast.

but yeah, been all of today without access to my cash. I only bank with hsbc and don't have any credit cards - the bloody feckers !

However, I did manage to use an ATM at around 1900 - unfortunately, she'd gone home by then.
so thanks to hsbc, i look like either a cheapskate tw@, or someone who's had their card declined.

Not At All Impressed !!!!!!!

Someone else mentioned this down the pub earlier. Apparently they were making announcements in Asda that anyone planning to pay with an HSBC card should make sure they have an alternative means to pay by....
HSBC now tell me that it's a server provided by an outsourced company that has failed (failed about 5am)- no back up has been provided and they don't know how long it will take to fix .
In other words -the HSBC CAR - first spec - don't need a spare wheel(wait for a puncture and call out a garage from Delhi) .( They ain't said what elseis missing - suspect next thing will be loads of customers moving elsewhere and withdrawing their money -so stand by for another Northern Rock)
I find this hard to beleive, (not calling you a liar) if someone at HSBC has designed a system where a single server, that is outsourced can fail and bring everything down, they need to be shot!

Called Customer services to complain and discuss compo this lunchtime, they asked me to email in which I did.
Email address if anyone needs it is: servicequality@hsbc.com

Good luck all, and give `em hell!

Do you have a copy of your email that I can use?

I supposed to be writing one for the OH as her technical knowledge with words when writing this kind of thing is the greatest as english isnt her first language.

I just got in on-line, moved some moolar around, but it was incredibly, painfully, slow to open the initial main page, even by our offshore satellite 'net standards.

FWIW

I sent off an email, as mentioned by the guy above (forgot your name bud, sorry.)
However, HSBC have just been on the phone (0131 number, nice scotish lady.)

I've been awarded compensation to cover the embarrassment of being forced into a security check by the cashier - and declined, then for my phone bill....

The grand total ? ........ £15

The Milky Bars are on me !

It isn't a lot, but it sure beats an automated apology that some banks would send out.

I don't know why HSBC customers put up with their Indian call-centres. My daughter banks with HSBC and has complicated financial circumstances and I'm forever fielding calls from their people who are extremely difficult to understand.

If you are with HSBC plus/premier, you get a nice UK based one redface)

Believe me, the call centres are nothing compared to the offshore operations and technology...

Oh yes, but I'm not sure the Scottish accent is any more understandable than the Indian one. hehe
