QPP takes another hit.
Talk of the venture with RAC being 're-negotiated' apparently.

They're all worth a punt - except that they all continue to get hefty fines for their misdemeanours which are just going to continue to drain shareholders when they can't put their prices up to cover, not to mention taking away their appetite to innovate and profit.

Amazes me that the government have the gall to sell off stakes in the likes of Lloyds to the public, when they know full well (from the regulatory quangos) that there's some hefty bills to pay,

If I tried to flog off shares in my own business under those sort of conditions I would expect to be done for fraud.....

I am giving miners and minerals some consideration.
Almost went with Southern Copper SCCO, but decided on OZ Minerals OZMLF, a much smaller company, report due next week, let's hope it's positive.
Why not go to the casino and put it all on black? Seriously?

You're not making investment decisions, you're gambling.
I do one to two hours a day preparation so I gamble wisely.
The contents of my fridge depend on me making sound decisions.

Elevating my exposure by a couple of percent into precious metals is not gambling it is a hedge.
A hedge against what? That makes no sense at all. I can see the point in increasing exposure in one sector, but if you were wanting a hedge then you wouldnt invest in something as volatile as a small cap miner and by your own words 'are hoping its positive', unless of course Ive massively underestimated you and you're got options laid down and are looking for a hedge against their movement?

All small cap miners are gambles unless you know the outcome of the report, and if you do then you shouldnt be taking a position.

Don't buy small cap mining/exploration firms (whether it be gold, diamonds, oil...) unless you appreciate it is gambling.

Obviously, there is nothing wrong with gambling. But don't pretend it's investing.

Yup and if your going to play an earnings report then ideally you want to be using options and not the stock as the risk is premium paid.

Difficult place to be right now in the recent market action. I've more or less trimmed most of my long positions and at the same time trimmed some shorts, main indices seem oversold on a short term basis. Treading very lightly with any new long positions, best place to be right now is probably cash at least that's the way I currently see things.

QPP - just a matter of time until it's game over IMO.

Their proposed figures in relation to deafness cases were ridiculous and anticipated profit based on those alone rang huge alarm bells for me. Either very naive or deliberately embellished but totally unrepresentative of industry standards.

The question is, what will become of them if they flop. They have built a fairly large chunk of market share.

Corrected that for you.

Everything seems overstated - 50000 vehicle black boxes a month?
