Can any one advise - CSA demands £58,000 out of the blue!!!
Discussion
This may sound harsh, but did your ex fund the upbringing of your kids out of her private income, or did she refuse money from you and go on to claim benefits. If it's the former, then I'm delighted you won your case.
If it's the latter, then she had no right telling you not to pay because I was going to pay and you had no right to listen to her until you were sure she wasn't getting me to foot the bill for your 2 kids. In which case I want my money back off you and I'm sorry they've dropped the case.
Ps. When I say "me" and "I", I am of course referring to me and all other taxpayers.

A friend of mine had a similar thing a couple of years ago...although for a 16 year old daughter he didn't even know he had from a non-serious girlfriend he had for a few weeks in his late teens. The first he knew about his daughters existence was £60k bill from the CSA. He was happily married with a new family but was still forced to sell his house or risk proceedings threatening bankruptcy. Obviously I feel a man should support his children...but not if he didn't know of their existence.

....but not if he didn't know of their existence. The CSA don't see it that way, they just blindly
read things in black and white without considering the actual facts.
