Put £1000 into Premium Bonds in Dec 16. Got £50 there. So far much better than in the bank!
That's how they suck you in

Again?! Jebus H frown

All I remember is prize fund cuts since 2007 - or am I wrong? When did they last do an increase? (apart from maybe a one-off link to a birthday of the Premium Bond celebration)

£25. Sigh. I'm moving my PBs to FX fund - need a bit more return.

Has anyone ever pulled their bonds out then Re bought them again as one block and seen any difference in thier winnings? (I know that sounds a bit bonkers) but I remember hearing a few reports of people winning the first month they bought the bonds.

Anecdotally it helps. Logically it makes it worse as you pull the bonds out for a month.

My mum ran a post ofice for a few years about 25 years ago. She claimed that she'd never won anything on her bonds (which she'd had since they were invented), but said that the number of her customers who won in the first three months after purchasing was statistically significant

I've only had bonds since August 2016. I got £25 on £7,000 in January, the bond was one of £250 I had bought in November and so was the first draw that bond had been in. I then got 2 x £25 in February's draw, 1 of those was 1 bond of £450 which I bought in December, so again the first draw that bond had been in. The second bond was one of the original £6,000ish I had put in August. So 66% of my wins on a smallish pot have been first draw winners.

Weird thing we find is when we buy bonds they seem to fire up winners nicely although only £25 wins. After a year or so it all dies back to no wins, noticed this time and again.
We are about to buy some more, fingers crossed.

I've sussed out it's far more satisfying to spend it on things you want rather than wait for the big one to drop on the mat.

No winners for me this month on the few grand I have left in there, but it's great to know someone has had a good payout!
