My wife and I held roughly equal numbers of bonds,
yet my long term return has been about 50% higher than hers.

It's a bit of a 'Lottery' biggrin.

If I have crunched the numbers correctly, in percentage terms that works out at:

2019: 0.95%
2018: 1.65%
2017: 1.10%
2016: 1.05%

Not a great return really.
My best year was 8.17%...but that was on just over £7k, big percentage of a small amount unfortunately smile

I'm 1.33% overall, not great but hey ho.

4 x £25 this month on £50k, 1.8% for this year.

Ditto. My best return in ages and still well ahead of the lottery which I gave up when the minimum stake went up.

4 x £25 here too, again.
I think we'll be house hunting this year hence why it's in PBs, might need to call on it quickly to secure a deal. After that's done and if I have any left it'll be invested in something locked in long term to make more of it to retire on.

I gave up the National lottery a long time ago, when I found out some of the people to whom they were giving money.

Shortly to disinvest my bonds so thought I'd measure the annualised return: turns out to be 2.02% p.a. which isn't too bad considering.

First investment made in Feb 2017 so over a period of 2 years.

Annoying, but still worth using the £50k allowance given the tax advantages vs Marcus
