My old houses - then and now
Discussion
I've loved the classic pics thread of people's old cars from back in the day ...
Recently had some old trannies my dad took in the 60s scanned in and now I can actually see them large brought back a host of memories ... and there were a few pics of some of our and relatives' old houses in there which prompted a sad google maps streetview search for comparisons - see below.
My dad walking up to our new house - Waterlooville, Hants - 1968 (and same house now)
Many changes to this house, porch, grown up garden! Front windows, cladding
My nan and grandad down for a visit ...
My grandad's S-type Jag on the drive. I think it was an E reg - I was only six. Petrol blue with red interior - twin tanks I remember.
And then my nan's bungalow in Lincolshire in about 1965 - many a happy holiday spent here - loads to do, huge garden to play footie in - and my dad's 1963 Mk I Cortina in the shots as well - 135 YKR.
Different front windows, chimney gone, huge house next door on what was a cow field, those white garages gone (one was for his mowers,of which he had about five)

My grandparents house. Plot of land bought in 1947 for £165. House built by Granddad.
Hand dug foundations and drainage:
Progress by 1953:
Now:
And the young'uns today think they have it hard because they have to save for a few years for a deposit.

Well, OP, it looks like you had a better upbringing than me!
I could get a photo of the council flat I lived in overlooking wormwood scrubs, or the council house I spent most of my childhood in. Fact is they were crap then and are probably still crap!
Instead I have a couple of before and after photos of the first two houses the wife and I renovated and lived in.
