Does anyone know the rules and regs for using these in a house? They are quiet common in workshops, so I was wondering if you could use one instead of a fire in a house?

Or how about one that could heat water to supply the central heating, possible?

I can't really find anything about domestic stuff in the UK on google, it all seems to be American.

The oil I want to burn by the way is used engine oil, if it makes a difference?

Kudos

I looked into this a few years ago, and as far as I recall you can't do it due to the emissions.

Friend of mine collects waste oil etc and he actually sends to Germany due to this legislation

My FiL who has an engineering company also looked into this. He had effectively a free source of coolant oil which he'd otherwise have to pay to dispose off.

As with the engine oil, its classed as trade waste so you're meant to apply for a license to dispose of correctly. I say you're meant to. ;-)

The units he looked at were quite large and suited more to being installed in a shed or outbuilding and as you say were all from the States.
