Just wondering if there's a problem with our drains. It's happened twice in three to four years - shared sewerage pipes between 3-4 houses. Collapsed drain or... st happens?

Yes, am aware of that. Just curious to know if it's expected. About 10 people "make use of" the shared section. biggrin

My experience was once in 21 years.

Neighbour moved in and thought it ok to dispose of nappies down the wc.

"Hi, how are you? I notice the drains are blocked and you're of a menstruation age..."

That can only end in tears, right? biggrin

Once in 49 years where we are but caused by wet wipes and nappies being thrown down the toilets somewhere near us.

I wonder if I could remain subtle by getting some tampon samples and bin bags and leaving them on respective doorsteps.

Because of the layout of this estate the sewers serving several houses either side of us tip into a main sewer which runs down the side of our house(and gives us a wider garden smile ).
Anyway in the near 30 years we've been here we've never known a problem with the sewers, apart from people who want to put up extensions, conservatories etc. and find this thing exactly where they wanted to put a foundation.

So no, st doesn't always happen. Grease and nappies do though.
